This thread is based on another thread I read a few days ago about busmasters quality.
I got a question, when you guys talk about busmasters quality, are you referring to the rifle as a complete rifle? or just the quality in the parts?
The reason I ask is because I built my M4 using a strip BM lower receiver. Everything else is quality parts, including the upper which happens to be BCM. I am an armorer with the US Army, so we have all the tools to build the rifles ourselves. I did my own staking of the gas key, headspacing and receiver extension staking.
So again I ask, how is the quality on the strip lowers? or are all the complaints related to the complete rifle?
I did not paid to much attention to the chart because most of the findings are for the complete rifle. I knew I could stake the castle nut and gas key myself and buy my own MPI bolt and rifle.
My carbine have been shooting great by the way. I just would like you guys opinion.
You joined this site almost 2 and a half years ago and this is your first post? Stripped lowers are all more or less the same. As long as the internals and upper are good, you should be fine.
Yes I did. I have been deployed and then after went to Warrant officer school. Lately I been having the bug to build another M4, this time based on all BCM components, so I started reading the site again. Lot’s of good info here.
It’s not that BM are pieces of shit that literally fall apart after the first shot it’s that they have consistantly had nagging QC issues. And they’ve had a high percentage of our of the box issues when compared to other manufactures like Colt and LMT. They had (or still have) poorly staked gas keys and mis-aligned front sights to name a couple of the big issues.
However, if you’ve addressed these then just press forward and enjoy your rifle.
