I went to the range today and fired off 300 rounds Winchester 230 gr. FMJ. Brings my total round count to 1000 rounds. No problems at all, so far! Here is a picture of one of my targets (100 rounds) at 25 yards.
Each time that I work on these pistols and shoot them, I get more and more impressed!
As I near 1000 rounds through mine, I am liking it more and more. S&W made a hit with this pistol. 100 rnds of WWB is hell on the front sight and muzzle though. Your target says 100 rndsā¦I only see 6 (2 really big ones ).
Some of the stray shots were caused by the heat in the range today. Their air conditioning was busted. I would say, it was over 100 degrees inside today. Emptied my camel back water pack easily today!
1600 rnd count as of today. I love shooting it! Iād shoot more if .45 ammo wasnāt so freakin expensive. I fingered the compact S&W45 today. It has a very nice balance to it . It figures as soon as I buy the full size M&P, they make a better one! I may trade one day, but not yet.
Iām glad I gave in. I like the M&P ergonomics and trigger better than the Glock. Also, out of the box, I shot the M&P9 as well as or better than I shot my G17, which Iāve been shooting for years.
Full sized. I thought the Compact was the Mid-sized no? Thats the common opinion that the compact M&P 45 was more like a mid-sized or commander sized weapon than an actual compact ala the 9c and 40c. YMMV.
M&P 45 Mid-Size - 4" barrel with FS grip and 10rd mags
M&P 45 Compact - 4" barrel with shortened grip and 8rd mags
Though I think the 45 Mid-Size looks better than a 45 FS (which I have), I doubt Iāll be getting a Middy. I do, however, want to get my hands on a 45 Compact.
I have about 400 rounds in my .45 and not a single choke. I am also waiting to get the Compact when itās available. If itās the same size as a glock 19 and from the specs it should be, it would make a great carry gun. The full size is a bit large for everyday summer carry under a t-shirt.
Now those are some great 25 yard groups! Was that done with a stock M&P, no trigger work etc.? Not that it matters - I did notice the ārapid fireā part.
