Anonymous is loosely connected group of “hackers” and their supporters that originated from 4chan, I believe.
Current embodiment of the resistor? Not sure what you mean. I don’t really see them doing more than hacking a few websites, DDoS’ing them, possibly outing some emails/correspondence, etc.
Given that our new rulers are technocrats, I think that rebel geeks can be a tremendous asset.
They are activist types, but I don’t see them having an interest in the gun control debacle. More interested in internet freedom, piracy and censorship issues.

Anonymous has no centralized leadership, so it’s hard to nail down a mission statement. It’s important to keep in mind that the unknown people speaking in the videos they release periodically aren’t necessarily coming from the head of the organization…there isn’t one. Anyone with some spare time, knowledge, and an internet connection can become a part of Anonymous. Hell, grab a Guy Fawkes mask and stand on the street corner with a sign and you’re as much a “face” of the group as anyone else.
Their actions thus far have kind of run the gamut from white hat, to grey hat, to full black hat hacking. So, you’re never quite sure what you’re gonna get from them.
Still, I don’t see how they’re going to help much. We’re not going to fight legislation in the courts by making a hacked pro-gun message appear on the front page of the White House website, or by making the websites of anti-gun politicians become unavailable because they’re currently under a DDoS attack.
No I hadn’t. I guess they’ll take any opportunity to lash out at establishment, but guns are not a typical issue for them. They are usually focused on things like the US govt pursuing foreign filesharing sites and doing network surveillance on citizens to indict them on piracy charges. I wouldn’t count on this group to be an effective fighter for your 2A rights.
The one thing I will say is when it comes to your internet, Anonymous is a force to be reckoned with. If they want data they can get it from anyone.
Better to have them with us than against us.

Anonymous can do serious damage to any type of network. They are the ones who shut down Sony’s internet for over a month despite Sony working 24/7 to try and bring it up, they have also done this to numerous other entities as well as hacked some of the toughest places there are.
They can do plenty of damage to servers that are used by numerous government entities. Anonymous even created real legit death certificates for a few WBBC members. They can do plenty of damage.
Yeah they put a whole new spin on who is on who’s side.
Not to mention Aaron Swartz committed suicide in NY last week due to federal prosecution. So they are already pre-pissed off so to speak. It would not surprise me in the least to see them teach someone a lesson.
They oppose order and government and are pro “insert current trend here” for the most part. I wouldn’t count on them to do anything but cause chaos for anyone that strikes their fancy.
IMHO that video doesn’t look like the ‘typical’ Anonymous videos they’ve released in the past (which have been well produced, slick videos).
The weird grammar seems out of place, as do a couple of other minor things.

If you mean The Resister (The Special Forces Underground) I’m pretty sure that is not them. We’ve known for awhile who was involved with that group.
Anon also found the dickhead from canada who blackmailed that 14yo girl who later dide some suicide bc of it. The police got the info, confirmed and arrested the dude.
