Have been a life time member for over 30 years and if it wasn’t for the membership numbers they can supply to support our gun rights, I would resign.
They are constantly calling for monies and the latest campaign.
My family is tuned to 1st check the display and if NRA they won’t answer and of course NRA won’t leave a voice mail. We are currently receiving 2-3 calls per day, this is bull shit.
I did not say to put yourself on the FTC no-call list. Tell them to put you on their own no-call list. If they call again, complain to the FTC that they are harassing you and you asked for them to not call previously. Also, ask to speak to the supervisor and ask why they keep harassing you.
It’s as simple as simply asking to be put on the “Do not solicit” list. If you simply ask the NRA they won’t call, they won’t send you stuff in the mail. And that is exactly the reason I asked to be put on the list, I don’t want membership money squandered on junk mail and phone calls.
If I want to give money to the cause, I donate directly to the NRA-ILA that way my money can’t be used for things like membership drives. It can only be used for legislative action related to gun rights.
Oh, that’s easy: take it all and stuff it in the return envelopes they send with it. Let their asses pay to dispose of it. That’s an across-the-board with any and all junk mail, but the amount from the NRA is simply astounding.
It’s NOT always as simple as a “do not solicit.” When they were calling me nonstop, it got to the point that I lied my ass off and told them that I was recording the call for quality-control purposes (I’m very quality-conscious about where and how I channel my rage; used my cell for an appropriate “recording device ON” beep), asked for the supervisor, and went Full Metal Mel Gibson. It worked.
Go scorched-earth. You can always be nice in some other aspect of your life if you’re worried about karmic backlash.
They’re a political action committee; like other, similar types of criminals, you must make them fear you…or at least make you seem more troublesome than their time is worth to them. They are being only as honest as the situation requires them to be, so use their own methods against them.
I did basically the same thing. After numerous calls I, too, asked for a supervisor and when he got on the phone I unloaded on him and promised complaints to the FCC if they didn’t comply with my Do Not Call (funny that it is DNC :D) requests.
Now I have a phone system that allows me to block any number I program. I only have to get one call from someone like this and the number is blocked forever and I never hear from them again. And if their number is blocked to my caller ID from their end my system won’t even accept the call. Sweet!
Same here. The NRA has an agenda to protect the NRA, not gun enthusiasts in general, but the NRA only; they don’t hesitate throw 2A & us gun guys under the buss if it is to there advantage.
I left the NRA 20 years ago when the volume of junk mail they sent out just got to be too much. I can only imagine the annoyance they can wreak now if I gave them my email address and phone number. I won’t be rejoining anytime soon, but those that wish to support their cause (if not their methods) can do so by donating to the Institute for Legislative Action or by donating to the Second Amendment Foundation. I would suggest doing so via bank check or money order – anything that hides your address, email, or phone number from them.
