And You Thought YOU Had A Bad Year...

Cliff notes:

18 year old mother loses husband (apparently to cancer)

Her adult GSDs are killed and she was a dog breeder.

Two scumbags then attempt a home invasion and she is forced to shoot and kill one of them.

And in all likelihood they killed her dogs previously to facilitate the home invasion.

Doesn’t seem that she had any money to speak of as it all went to medical, and then funeral expenses, for her husband.

Sorta looking like she was the motive for the home invasion and had they been successful it probably would have gone really bad for her.

Unreal.

Over 20 minutes with no police response. I’ll be forwarding this story to several people I know who rely on the police for the protection of themselves and their family.

What a horribly tragic story.

Sounds like she lived kinda remote and isolated.

Absolutely, and it’s not a slam on the coppers. I just think this provides a very good example of why people should own firearms and get the training they need to operate them efficiently. I forwarded the story to several lady friends I have who have yet to invest in a firearm or the proper training, yet.

Agreed. I’ve worked for a Sheriff’s Office, most being in patrol. Even when we were highly motivated and hauling ass Code 3 some of the remote locations in the county took 30+ minutes to access. Nature of the beast unfortunately.

Always have a gun and seek out the training to use it.

The good guys can’t be everywhere all at once. Personally I’ve been on the phone to 911 on hold for over 10 minutes before to report a car accident I’d witnessed, talk about frustrating. I can’t imagine being in a life or death situation and having nothing to defend myself and family with other than a phone. And again it’s not a slam on the 911 operators or the police but the simple fact is people should accept personal responsibility for their family’s protection to the best of their ability.

There are only so many first responders to go around and if lots of people are having problems at the same time where they need assistance you may be at the end of a very long line.
