I’m having a hard time comprehending why some members continue to post threads that are in the same vein as those being “closed” repeatedly by our Moderators. The Mods are explaining why the threads are being locked, and even directing the OPs to the suitable sub-forums. Many examples of this are indicated by an icon showing a “lock” in the threads list. How about doing the right thing and post where it is appropriate, or don’t post at all if you don’t have the required post count to post in General Discussion. Do it for the Moderators. Their jobs are tough enough without having to be constantly policing this forum for current events topics. Have a nice day and Merry Christmas to all!

I think there needs to be some clarification at what point you should post a new thread versus reviving an old one… or vice versa. I’ve seen people admonished for reviving an old thread as well as creating a new thread about a topic that already exists. So what’s the cutoff point?
I agree Fox. It’s not about ‘who wins’ or ‘these vs. those’. Sometimes common courtesy comes into play instead of trying to act like your superior.

My POV:
There are 1000’s of pages to read here. I’ve been reading for about three years before joining and have not come anywhere near knowing as much as I would like to. There is no way for a new member to know if some topic has been discussed a thousand times before, and before anyone says,“Use the orange search button.”, I have. Most of the time a satisfactory answer can be found, but not always. Further, it is nice to start a new conversation with fellow gun owners, and rehash old stuff sometimes. I didn’t come here looking for an encyclopedia. I came here looking for interaction and conversation. There is no interaction from reading 6 year old posts, even if they do answer my immediate question.
Further, I can tell you first hand that it is very frustrating not being able to comment, post or engage in any way in GD. I want to participate in the discussion of the current issues facing gun owners. I understand the reasoning behind it, and so I have not argued or fussed about it (until now :D). (There is my one permitted icon per post) I have chosen to abide by the rules, and I have read a whole lotta stickies, and their links, but I understand when someone just wants to start a conversation about a gun related topic and they can’t. Then we (my fellow noobs and I) get cut down pretty harshly when we post things in attempt to reach that magic 200 number. I must admit that the road a noob is supposed to travel, and all the rules and etiquette that are to be observed can be a bit daunting. Again the reasons for it are clear, and what has been achieved by enforcing said rules, is a fantastic product that makes other gun forums pale in comparison, but still, it is a lot to grasp for someone new to the concept. I appreciate the job the mods do, and there are not words to express the gratitude I feel for the education that I have gotten here, but darn it, I wanna talk about what a SB “The Chosen One” is too! I end up reading about a topic here and then calling a gun friend to discuss it, since I’m not yet allowed to discuss it here. Its frustrating…
