An early Christmas and rust

I’ve been using Corrosion-X for a while now…Seems to be very effective. I like it a lot better than Eezox.

Personally, I would not use a case for storage. Not too many cases are sealed good enough to keep out moist air once the inside of the case is dry. Ferrous only needs a few water molecules to change into rust, which is why you need some kind of protectant on your blued gun, even if it isn’t in a case, especially in humid areas. The displacement isn’t the drying of the water. It is a shield between the bare surface of the gun and the ambient.

Just to update Padwan a bit, I pulled out my shotguns, today, to retreat them (the ones that do not get shot much and are stored a lot) with the silicone spray that I use. Three of them are Mav. 88’s that will rust just by showing them some water (my son’s is half rust and half blue, but I don’t take care of his). Last time I did this was back in late Sept. All I do is spray them, let them drip, brush with a paint brush, and back in the safe they go. Two of them are older than my son’s, and they look like the day I bought them. This is in FL, and we keep our windows open, a lot.

It isn’t the be all to end all method by no means, but it does work. It is cheap, easy, quick to do, and easy to remove if you want to. The main thing, there is no rust.

I use tough cloth on stuff and it seems to work great for me.

The best product I have found against corrosion is Corrosion-X. I have used it for years around the house (tools, hinges, garage door rollers etc.) and it is just outstanding wether used indoors or outdoors (I live in FL a few miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico).

I used to treat my guns with Slip 2000 but switched to Slip 2000 EWL a while ago. Neither product comes remotely close to Corrosion-X as far as rust protection or longevity so once I’m done going through the Slip 2000 EWL bottle it will be Corrosion-X for everything.

Well I’ve tried the Silicone Spray as that was what I had handy at home. So far so good. But I need a few more months to see if anything changes.

Re Corrosion X. Someone gave me a bottle of the stuff for Christmas. I have not used it on any gun but I might test it on some garden tools. Would be interesting to see how it does.
