Could someone explain to me what the relation of barrel twist to grain wt is? I have a new POF with a 1:8 twist and 14 inch barrel (with a 2inch muzzel brake) but am not sure which wt. ammo will work best with it and what should influence my decision and why.
As an aside, I had recurrent malfunctions with steel cased Wolf ammo and also with Federal XM193 which caused blown primers and the bolt to jam sufficiently that it had to be returned to POF.
For everyone’s info. It seems like some guns like the POF are chambered too tight to accomodate the increased pressures of 5.56 rounds like Federal’s which causes the primers to blow. POF is addressing this problem and will probably rebore the throat to make it larger.
Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated
I know that some are of the opinion that quality ammo should be used but it is not always available and I would hope that my gun would reliably fire any commercially produced ammo ( yea, wishful thinking)
