Just picked up my Benelli supernova tactical , luv the ghost ring sights . Before I took it out to shoot , took it apart and cleaned and put some slip2000 lube in all the right places . I was shooting some Remington sluggers , and much to my surprise it was dead on at 50yrds . So me and a buddy slung 50 shots down range . This thing cycles great and the trigger is awesome .
Only thing I am not sure about is there any ammo I should stay away from ? I was told not to shoot steal shot . I was under the impression I could shoot any thing .
And do I want the +2 or +3 Nordic tube extension ? I don’t want it stocking out further the the barrel . I tried a search and search Google and all I get is what slugs I can shoot . Thanx for any info and tips
Cool shotty, the Benelli’s are bad ass for sure !!! Not sure about which ammo is good or bad for your gun, what does the Manual say ? Contact Benelli if you don’t have a book !! I really don’t think steel shot is that big a deal unless you don’t have screw in chokes,I don’t think you would want to shoot steel through a Full Choke !! Does your gun have Screw in chokes or is it a fixed tube !! As far as extension tubes,go with the Nordic for sure, those guys are Awesome with super fast shipping !! Extension size depends on what your going to do with the gun,are you using it for 3 Gun,or just goofing around at the range ?? I bought a CZ 712 and it has a 20 inch BBL,I bought the +3 extension and its perfect, just a tad shorter than the BBL ! Now keep this in mind,I installed and cut the Spring exactly where they said to start, tried it and it functioned perfect and I have shot everything from Target loads to slugs/buckshot,High Brass, etc, everything goes through this shotgun without a problem, but I am about a Half inch shy of fitting another rd in the tube,so if I just cut another 1/2 to 3/4 inch of spring off,I could fit another shell in & I bet it would still function fine, will have to try it sometime I guess !! Keep us posted on how ya make out !
“so if I just cut another 1/2 to 3/4 inch of spring off,I could fit another shell in & I bet it would still function fine, will have to try it sometime I guess”
Think about what you said before you cut the spring. The the fully compressed spring would need to shortened by a half inch. 3/4" divided by the wire diameter will tell you how many coils to cut off. Probably 10-12" of uncompressed length. GH
No chokes for my SNT . There was no manual in the box when I bought it new , so I sent benelli a email to get one . I plan to do a lil 3 gun comp and hunt deer and plink . This model has the 18.5" barrel , that why I was thinking +2 tube . But if the +3 won’t hang out past the barrel , I would snatch that . Still trying to find info on ammo . Thanx for your help guys
Thanks,I hear ya ! Don’t want to get to far off the OP original thread, but yea,it mite be more than a 1/2 inch,LOL !! The spring they give you in the Nordic “Kit” is friggin 3 feet long it seems,I think it is the same spring for all Kits,no matter if you order the +2 Kit or the +5,no sense in making 10 different springs for every extension ! The directions say put the spring in and leave so many inches hangin out the end and cut there,I started at exactly what they recommended and tried it & it worked fine, but they say you can cut more to adjust your feeding and the amount of rds you can put it the tube. I guess I would maybe half to cut more than a 1/2,3/4 inch, but I don’t think I would have to cut 10 inchs. Oh well, nothing I’m gonna play with now anyways,it runs like a top,so why mess with it. Now back to the task at hand,LOL
I seen a YouTube video where a guy cut more than the guidelines suggested . And his came out fine , I think he went down to 10" past tube if I remember correctly . He was able to get more ammo loaded with no issues after hundreds of shots . Wish I could post a link .
Yea,I would have to go find the directions to be sure, but being a Man,I was trying to jam the whole friggin spring down the tube & when it finally seemed like WTF I went and Read the instructions,LOL it said measure and leave 12 inches or so from the end of the tube to start and then go from there,so I would guess there is a fair amount of leeway worked in ! I also bought in on the whole Nordic thing,I bought the follower also, don’t know if that makes a difference or not,but its red anodized and it looks cool,LOL !!
I’ll try,but I always have a hell of a time on this place postin pic’s !! Worse case I’ll send ya links !! Well it looks like I got it,LOL,let me know if ya need anymore or have any more questions !
Nice , is that a m2? Looks like a semi-auto . If you have never used the slip2000 lube , you got to try it . It is great and makes cleaning a breaze , my Daniel Defense loves this stuff . Everything cycles better , and I always thought" lube is lube"
WOW,I wish it was a M2,its my $475 Dollar out the door CZ 712,12 guage made in Turkey shotgun !!! Its friggin awesome so far, probably won’t hold up like a $1K plus shotgun, but then I won’t run it like one either,LOL !!! Yes it is a semi-auto ! I do shoot a few 3 gun matches a year, but not enough to justify a $1200/$1400 dollar Versa-Max/M2…or FN semi, this thing just works great so far, only about 200 rds through it with out any cleaning & everything is GTG so far !! I hear ya on the Slip 2000,I have used it before, but I bought into the Fire-Clean stuff and I lubed it up pretty good when I first brought the gun home !! Thanks for the complement on my cheap shotty,
I was 497$ out the door on mine . I understand your way of thinking my friend . My DDm4v5 was the most ever I spent on a rifle . Have a great Christmas everyone
Sweet deal on the Super, they are great guns,I have a Mossberg 500,but wanted a Semi, and the CZ fit the bill, cheap, works (so far) & handles great !! I put the ATI Stock on it,cost another $90 bucks, but still less $$$ then most “Name Brand” Tactacool Semi’s !! I’ll find and install a Ghost ring sight on the back someday, but shoots pretty good so far,a little tough with slugs for super accuracy at distance but good enough for now, something I would work on if I knew I was going to be shooting a bunch of slugs @ distant ranges. Keep us posted on how your Nordic Kit works out !!
Mb, your SuperN is made to shoot any available 12ga ammo on the shelves. Some slugs are for rifled barrels only, but this limitation would be on the box. You have a tough shotgun not requiring delicate treatment. Benelli offers a mercury recoil reducer for this model. I’ve got long arms, and the Nova stocks are too long for me.
Thanx williejc , so far I have 75 rounds of rifled slugs do the pipe . I am amazed at the accuracy from this lil shotty . My buddy was too , he plans to get one now . I might try my first shooting video with this thing . Waiting on a sling for it , ordered a Vickers sling .
