Ammo (223) differences between Win white box & XM193?

Just wondering if any of you have noticed a difference between Winchester (USA) white box 223 compared to XM193? I have alot of both and am attending a class soon and was wondering if there is a significant difference between the 2 different cartridges. I want to actually shoot the stuff that is not as good as the other and I am thinking of shooting the USA ball stuff and keeping my 193. I know that the USA stuff always appears to be more dirty than the 193 does.

Is the white box Q3131A or something else? If yes, they are “supposed” to be close.

Only a chronograph will tell you the difference as well as how each one groups in your carbine.

Eagle1*, check out http://www.winchester.com/products/catalog/cfrlist.aspx?bn=4&type=3 . According to specs, Q3131A aka Israeli-made M193 with muzzle velocity 3270fps, is just about the same as regular White Box, USA223R1, muzzle velocity 3240fps. That is, of course, assuming they were fired from the same length barrel.

However, the spec sheets I downloaded from Winchester for each one, and can’t immediately find on the Winchester website now, say that the USA223R1 velocity is from a 24-inch barrel. Therefore, it should be slower than Q3131A. How much slower, I dunno. Wish I had a chrono.

I have a stash of Q3131, which is US-made M193, for special occasions. I haven’t seen ANY .223 White Box in any store for months. Remington makes about the same load.
