The book was amazing. I’m interested to see what Clint Eastwood did with the film. This will either make me love Clint and Bradley even more or really hate them…

Looks good!

I saw the movie last night. I enjoyed the film. I thought that both Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller did an fine job acting in the movie. Bradley Cooper looked like he put on 30-40 pounds for the film in order to more resemble Chris Kyle.
This is one of the better movies that I have seen in a while. The movie was about two hours long and well made in my opinion. I suspect that Clint Eastwood directing and being involved in the project greatly contributed.
P.S. There is an interview on NPR with Bradley Cooper and Chris Kyles’s wife discussing the film. I only caught the last half but it was very interesting hearing her thoughts on the project.

Was there any nudity in it? When I read the book I know he went into a strip club and referenced him looking at porn a couple times. (I ask so I know whether or not to take my wife ;))
There were tits galore - your wife will love it. ![]()
lol figures…
My wife is pretty touchy on that stuff so I figured I would ask before hand.
Same here. But ima’ watch it anyway. She closes my eyes for me… Lol…
There was no nudity from what I recalled. I think the R rating stemmed from the level of violence, gore, and foul language. I saw it at a late showing and there were no children present in a fairly packed theatre. This is not a movie that I would take a child or most teenagers to watch.
P.S. It looks like the love scenes may have been cut-out.
Interesting…good to know! Thanks man! Ever since I read the book a while back, I’ve been really excited/cautious about the idea of a movie. Absolutely loved the book!
As much as I’m a huge fan of gratuitous female nudity, I think it’s more important that this mans story be told. Kids need to know more about men like Chris Kyle than they need to know about Michael Brown. Of course I wouldn’t object to an unrated Directors cut DVD down the road.
Really looking forward to it. How does it compare cinematographicly to “Lone Survivor”?
I read the book and had a buddy read it too. I thought it was interesting how, IIRC, he said he didn’t like swimming or doing the frogman thing, didn’t like heights, wasn’t fond of jumping out of airplanes- but he seemed to be an incredibly lucky, idiot-savant when it came to shooting people. Not saying he didn’t work hard but even he admitted that targets just seemed to present themselves to him and he hammered them hard.
Ya, I remember Chris saying that and how he would try and avoid dives and stuff.
I read No Hero and it’s about how everyone thinks that SEALs aren’t supposed to be scared of anything and how they are meant to look as machines. “Mark Owen” author of No Hero was a DEVGRU operator and he said he had a real problem with heights and it took him years until he finally liked jumping out of planes. The difference between these guys and the average Joe, is that even though my may be uncomfortable with heights or diving, they push themselves anyways and they get the job done no matter what is asked of them. That is what makes a special forces operator in my opinion.
I’m looking forward to the movie. Not taking anything away from Chris but I hope that someday we will see a movie about Carlos Hathcock as well.
What? No overly critical nit picking of the movie like we saw when “Lone Survivor” came out? You guys are slipping! LOL
Seriously…I would not expect a movie about Chris Kyle to have a boatload of titties in it…would you? Even if there were a breast or two…just tell the wife to deal with it…you are a grown ass man and have seen breasts before. LOL
I that would be a pretty sweet movie if they did!
Just got home from the theater. It was a very fitting tribute. Silence from the sold out audience at the end.
My favorite trailer was the one where all those idiot Marines (who were civilians a week before that deployment, because that’s how it works) were walking around aimlessly while unaware of the greatness so close by. And the one dude tells CKs character how he needs to stay up on the rooftop, click click click, because the Marines feel invincible with him there and that feeling is more important than CK teaching those dummies how to MOUT. In Fall-oooo-jah, which is a weird way to pronounce “Ramadi” but I’ll let it slide. Because CK can’t like, save everyone, man. Slurp.
I’m a little surprised Clint Eastwood went in the comedy direction with this film, but whatever sells I guess. I just hope his comedy directing isn’t as painful as Jim Carrey’s serious movies.
If you have read the book, you would know that the book is actually quite comical. Or maybe you have read it.
