I recently purchased an metro arms 1911 for 389.00. this is just a basic government model. I have only ran a couple of boxes of ammo through it so far, but I really like it. It is accurate and reliable, and It feels very solid in the hand with a nice heft. Quality of construction appears to be very nice. It is manufactured in the philippines. It has no light rail, no ambi safety, no checkering on front strap. It is what it is. A government model 1911, and that may well be good enough.
I do not know how competent the guys at “Gun Blast” are, but they say that this pistol is a better value than the Taurus. 389.00 is the lowest price I have heard on one. It is 409.00 at my local that sells this model. It has a lot of mim, but so do some nicer, more expensive 1911’s. I say good for you and hope you get a lot of use out of it.
