Im putting together my first build and I have the lower completed. I am wondering about quality of ameetec uppers. Thier price is low compared to some I have seen so im kinda skeptical. Any information would be great.
I know this is not an answer to your question but you might want to check out this thread on helping deciding an upper
There was a major scandal with Ameetec on TOS. It turns out the owner has a history of lying, cheating, and treating people like crap.
They don’t manufacture anything. They just assemble stuff from parts they buy from other companies and have their name put on it. I have no idea of their supplier, but most of their stuff seems identical to DPMS.
I only have a lower from them…but I’ve no complaints so far. I may go with an AMEETEC upper at some point so I’m curious as well.
Ameetec uses DPMS parts. I bought one of the lowers as I dont live far from them and they were cheap and is for a play gun. I had them switch out the commercial RE for a milspec one and let them keep the commercial stock for the switch. I wouldnt use the lower for real use. I also took alook see at their uppers and there are much better options for the same money.
Ameetec receivers are made by LAR…DPMS does not physically make anything either.
Any links to this scandal?
I have seen an Ameetec upper with the barrel nut secured by the gas tube. The nut was loose and moved freely.
There are enough other products on the market to alleviate any need to buy an Ameetec product. Do yourself a favor and buy a good upper with a MPI bolt and a properly staked carrier.
Buy quality = buy once.
You get what you pay for.
So far Im leaning towards a LMT
I own a Ameetec M4gery upper, and have not had any problems with it. I have shot about 1000 rounds through it with no FTF or FTE. I have only heard good things about Ameetec on AR15.com forum; that is the reason I purchased their upper in the first place. I have not heard of any scadels with Ameetec.
I will admit that after looking at my Colt and Rock River gas key’s, their gas keys should have been better staked.
That is incorrect. They do machine their own upper and lower receivers. DPMS bought out EA tooling before the 1994 ban to start up receiver production.
Yep, and now EA is back in business http://www.essentialarms.com/
I was refering to the internals when I said parts.
What about stag I know they are making the S&W M&P’s
Stag is good but they are no longer making the S&W’s
Shihan is correct- Stag hasn’t made guns for Smith for several months.
Hey im sorry that was just the word on the “street” here
Things change rapidly in this business…
Stag would probably be a good choice for an economy gun, and certainly better than BM and dpms.
Stick with this thought, lean until you fall over on an LMT lower. Get one with a Sopmod stock and you’ll be happy.
I have a spikes tactical lower with a colt parts kit and a CAA 6 pos stock.
This is not correct. S&W makes everything in house and uses LMT BCG’s in their AR’s.
