I assume that polymar rail sections weigh less than the aluminum versions, but by how mucn? I want to get an aluminum rail section for an M LOK slot, but jot if it is going to be significantly heavier than the polymar version. If someone would post pics or list the weights, that would be great. I am having a hard time finding individual weights for the 3, 5, and 7 slot aluminum and polymar rail sections. With or without attachment hardware is fine since they will both have the same hardware.

Density of polymers appears to typically be in the range of .8-.9 g/cm^3. Aluminum is around 2.7 g/cm^3. If the shape is the same, I would expect the aluminum rail section to weigh ~3x as much as the polymer. I don’t know if the shape is the same, though.
For reference, a PWS 5 slot aluminum section is listed at 22.6 grams, and a PWS 5 slot polymer section is listed at 11.3 grams.
However, please keep use of rail section in mind when choosing…highly suggested that only aluminum sections are used for load bearing accessories.

It is l going to be used as a bearing surface on a nav light. It won’t do anything more than hold a few ounces. I may get the Aluminum one for more flexibility in the future though.
I would be comfortable with that… grips are where the issues can arise.
Buy once and buy aluminum. You can drive yourself crazy (and poor) trying to save that last gram.
I did buy the aluminum one. I wanted to know what the weight difference was. The difference between the two costs was only $2 so I am not overly concerned with weight, just curious.
