It has a chance only if we roll over and fail to keep the heat on congress critters so they see the light. Next year is an election year.
The majority of bills never make it out of committee.
It’s a pet bill that will probably never make it out of committee for a floor vote. Every senator has some unique bill that he/she submits every year to pander back to their constituents that they “tried”.
Former senator Mohan from New York state would every year introduce a 1000% per bullet ammo tax. He did this for like 10+ years. It would never make it out of committee as it was a dead duck upon arrival for most senators.

This will be the litmus test for the House Republicans. They have repeatedly voted down the “immigration reform” bills and pushed for tougher immigration. They also have been far more supportive of war funding, and much more conservative than the Senate republicans, who have been incessant on losing the next elections.
If the Republicans vote this down, they will get re-elected in the house and only get crushed in the Senate. If they allow any gun control bill to pass, the Republicans will be nothing other than a footnote in the next election cycle.
Funny how Republicans can take an election mandate and turn it into an abysmal failure all in the name of the great BS called bi-partisan unity/statesmanship/kindler gentler crap.
