AK47 ULTIMAK Rail Problem

Hi guys,
Maybe someone can help. Santa delivered a ULTIMAK AK Rail under the tree this year … but to my dismay its too short for the Norinco 84 ;(
I was looking forward to mounting an optic on this project…

Anyone have these problems?

This is a solid rail

If that’s you gun just loosen the screws and slide the rail further toward the gas block. My two on my SLR106 and SAR1 fit differently too.

I installed the rail on my Vector and although I didnt have that exact problem, I had some play that I split the difference with. I read somewhere ( I think it was on their instructions you can get from their web site) that its OK as well. You didnt mention how much the shortage was but if it is your gun in the pic, you should be OK. Most of my work was adapting the foregrip to accomidate the clamps. I posted a pic of it a couple weeks ago on the AK Pic thread. Im running an Aimpoint ML2 on it.

Ultimaks website says it is deliberately short. If it is real short you may have a AMD-65 Ultimak.

Like Sidewinder6 & Shihan says, it is suppose to be a little short. If that is a pic of your rifle, it’s fine. I have the gas tube and forend mounted on my MAK 90. The reason according to Ultimak is during firing of the rifle, the optics that you have mounted will stay zeroed with the BBL when it heats up and flexes. Basically, the mount floats with the BBL.

I don’t understand what’s not right from the pictures- is it at the rear where there is an obvious gap between the machined portion that says “Ultimak” and also between the chrome looking portion and the rear?

I’d like to see this with the lower handguard on.

ETA: That’s not his rifle. That’s a stock photo from the Ultimak site if that helps.

I would therefore imagine anything that looks wrong to me in that pic is just fine!
