AK top cover blowing off

I ran across this video and had never seen an AK blow the top cover off while someone was shooting.

This made me think about when you put rail systems over the top cover like the Texas Dog Leg or the RS regulate or some of the new ones that cantilever over the top cover.

**Would the force of the cover be contained by the mount or make it worse for the operator for any mount that sits above the top cover?

Or is it a push either way when that happens?

I currently have a La Rue Iron Dot which I am removing due to sighting issues of the Fastfire in a Vickers class and the Ultimak is starting to move to the top of the list for replacement with an aimpoint.

PS Beside all the other drawbacks ergonomically, there is NO f**ing way I would ever shoot one of those bull pup AK kits. Yikes.

Reason #1 I’m an eyepro nazi.

I think a side mount system like the RS would be just fine, can’t really comment on a TX Dogleg. I don’t think it would necessarily make it worse though.

Don’t shoot hadjifucked ammunition in hadjifucked AK’s.

That company in question was one of my former employers. The AK was legit as I recall. The problem was (and is to this day) people who load ammo into magazines without knowing what they are loading and without inspecting it and then it goes kaboom.

There was (is) plenty of bad ammo in country (mostly Arab made) and it has trashed countless AK’s and PKM’s. I don’t know how many dozens I have seen wrecked by that garbage.

Thank you.

Good to know it is ammo related. I never would use or come across that type of ammo.
