I cannabalized a Bulgarian AK sling to get the D ring and snap hook, and it runs great.

The Vickers sling is a good choice, but for an AK, I don’t think it works out all that well. This is why we had BFG make us a custom one that allows it to work much easier with an AK.

Vector, Comp ML2 on Ultimak rail. Im on the fence with the handgrip and heading to a Gun Show this weekend to see if that changes.

The Vickers it is. I have 3 AK’s and they all use different sling attachment methods. I think I will get the Blue Force wire adapter and try to make something work. The tough one is my AMD-65:confused:

Nice set up there. Could you give some details on the rifle itself? I’m especially interested in the stock (what kind, how it is installed). I am also wondering how the front sling is attached - did you modify the lower hand guard?

it’s an old ACE stock when they were using M249 stocks. i cut it down in length to suit me. it’s installed with a internal receiver block:

the front of the sling is just attached with an uncle mike’s wood sling stud and swivel. no mod to the handguard.

Here’s how I attached my Vicker’s

HK Hook in the front. Rifle is not done yet but here’s a pic showing how.

I’ve been playing with the new Gear Sector GS-2P on my SLR-105 for a few weeks now. I still have no experience with the Vickers sling, so I can’t make any comparisons yet.

I used Templar’s idea of parting out the snap hook and D-ring from a Bulgarian sling. It works perfectly with this setup, and it’s free if you already have a conventional military AK sling.

I use a Vickers as well. Hooked up to the swing swivel on the ACE stock and a rail mounted sling swivel.

At my size I don’t have much use for standard AK slings, unless I want to wear the rifle as “bling”.

Not sure if this type of sling has been posted before, but thought I’d share last night’s project.

I sacrificed a spare Romanian sling so that I could attach a Larry Vickers VCAS sling using the stock hook and D-ring.
I was thus left with some webbing. What if I attached two AK slings together?

While it lacks the rapid adjustment of the VCAS and VTAC slings, it does put otherwise useless AK slings to work.
It attaches/detaches pretty quickly so that you can move it between rifles. (slings are a PITA in a safe IMHO)
And if you have to ditch the rifle, the side-release Fastex buckle will do it.

I found that putting a Fastex buckle by the stock interfered with cheek weld.

Sling one: use a knife to cut the threads holding the metal tri-glide in place. I cut 18" off of this sling when I was done.
Sling two: remove metal tri-glide, and cut the webbing by the metal plate which holds D-ring.
