I like my front sling attachment point to be toward the front of the receiver. I’m shooting an AK with an Ultimak top rail and was thinking about using a Vtac LPSM to mount a quick disconnect port on the left side toward the rear of the gas tube. Has anyone done this? My worry is that there could be enough jerking on the sling to shift the Ultimak on the barrel and throw off my Aimpoint zero. Is this going to be an issue?
I would be hesitant to mount a sling to an Ultimak, especially if you have your optics mounted to it too.
Ultimak rails are pretty secure, but I wouldnt want the torque from slinging a rifle, especially harsh stuff like transitions, to screw it up or throw off optic zero. I’d either use the sling swivel that Mr. K provided, or get the lower ultimak rail set, and mount it on there.
I was going to try that exact solution. I think it’s a non-issue and that the Ultimak will handle it just fine. Only issue I had was that it seems like it might be kind of high. I need to order another VTAC for something else so I’ll probably just get two to try one on the AK too, although I’ve now removed my H-1 and am going back to all irons on the AK.
I’ve yet to see an issue with mounting a sling to an Ultimak.
Why’d you get rid of the H-1? I’ve been wanting to copy your old Ultimak/H-1 setup for a couple weeks now haha.
I never shoot the ak and want to use the H1 on other guns, and keep the AK overall less expensive.
