I’ve got a Arsenal 107cr side folder.Problem is, the lop is a little on the short side.Tapco had a 1" extension but that has been discontinued.I have seen Lancaster AK’s and the stock looks easy to remove.The Arsenal looks more "involved"Has anyone removed the stock from a side folding Arsenal and how hard was it?Or is there something else I can do?

You can easily remove the side folding stock from the 107CR by taking the top cover off, and pushing the pin that holds the stock up and out of the hinge.

As far as increasing the LOP for you, you can find one of the Bulgarian buttpads for grenade launching.

Curious…how tall are you and what kind of stance are you using? I’m 6’2" or so and find the standard LOP of the AK (which is actually about the same as the M16A1) to be damn near perfect.

Thanks for the reply!I am thinking of replacing with a “NATO” stock possibly from K-Var.I’m about 5’10" on a good day:D.My brother has a Lancaster that fits so much better but it’s not a folder either.I like the look of the Tapco folder also.

You can change out the stock to anything you want as long as it’s a steel triangle folder from an AKS-74, which has the same length of pull than the polymer stock you have on there does now.

Are you shooting with a pretty severe blade-off?

Just to clarify: the NATO length stock will not fit your rifle. The grenade launching pad is probably your best bet.

You might also try “squaring up” your chest to your target with your elbows tucked down and into your body. I’m 5’ 9" and, shooting this way, I almost find the stock to be too long.

I am 5’10" and I shoot with the side of my nose against the leftt rear corner of the dust cover. The standard Warsaw Pact LOP is perfect for me.

Don’t be afraid to get close to the cover. The more mass you put forward and on top of the rifle, the better you will manage recoil and follow-thru.

Check out Larry Vickers. This is the same way I do it. Look where his face and nose are.

BTW: This is weak-side for Larry.

Great post! The photo reinforces your explanation perfectly. I haven’t trained with Vickers, but this is the way I do it. Seems natural to me, just like the nose-to-charging-handle weld with an AR (in spite of the difference in LOP).
