AK Front Sling Mount Alternative

After successfully modding my AK hand guard to attach an IWC light mount, I’m going to attach the IWC mount-n-slot sling attachment at the rear of the hand guard, just in front of the receiver where I would prefer it. This, in combination with the rear sling adapter from Echo Nine Three will give me attachment points at the front and rear of the receiver and will be usable with most styles of hooks (Mash, HK, and ewven Magpul MSS-2).

From my experience with the light mount, it shouldn’t take much work with a drill and the Dremel. It should be a little easier as there is more room to work at the rear of the lower hand guard. Will report back when it’s done.

Interesting… I just use a VCAS sling mounted to the standard rear sling mount with a cannibalized sling attachment hook from an old AK sling. Works very well… That being said it wouldn’t work with your light set-up.

Spooky

Nice install of the light mount. Was it difficult? Any problem with the heat shield interfering?

I am more interested in the QD Mount. I want to install one too. Please update with any progress.
