the Aimpoint SC is designed to be used on short action rifles, shotguns, and handguns. as near as I can tell it has the same specs for battery life, NV, and submersion as the Comp C3 but is 1.4" longer and 3/10 ounce heavier. it is 4MOA.
it is also on sale at Midway for $225.
is there any reason, other than the camo finish, that this would not be suitable on an AR?
They are a decent match for an AR. I’ve got a few from previous midway sales(they put these on sale a lot) and have been fairly happy with them. My only gripe is that the size somewhat limits your mounting options, so keep that in mind if you buy one. I’ve got one mounted in burris xtr rings on an ar and it does come with one little issue. The length of the red dot somewhat limits your buis choice. I can use a mbus, but if the sight is deployed, it will interfere with the flip caps on the aimpoint. Not a big deal, but it’s annoying. I will admit there are days when I wish I had a smaller aimpoint in a QD mount, but the 9000sc in definitely serviceable and I don’t think there is a better RDS in that price point.
well I received mine today. for $205 plus shipping, I just couldn’t pass it up.
it’s a 4 MOA dot and has the same specs as the CompC except it’s about 1.4" longer and 3/10 of an oz. heavier. and it’s camo…
anyway, I wanted the cheapest, best quality RDS that I could just leave on permanently for one of my “behind the door” shorty ARs. even though I agree it has fitment issues, it fits the bill.
and for what I’m using it for, I don’t even mind the camo…
