Aimpoint x6 magnifier

Hey everyone,

I’m toying wi5 buying an Aimpoint x6magnifier for use behind my T1 and ML3.

Does anyone have one? What are they like? Good eye relief?

Does it magnify the dot to stupid size? My dots are 4 moa… that’s my concern.

Thanks for everyone’s time.

Wally

It is a common misconception that putting an X moa dot with a 3x magnifier triples the dots size.

It simply magnifies the entire scene - including the dot - but since you are looking at a magnified image, the dot is still the same size in relation to the image you are aiming at

So your 4 MOA dot will still be 4 MOA in the magnified image, regardless if it’s a 3 or 6 x magnifier.

Sorry no direct exp with the 6x Aimpoint, other than fondling one at SHOT last year for a couple of minutes.

You could use it as 4moa dot as a 24moa dot by keeping the 6x magnifier down and treating it like an ACOG (or an Armson OEG, by flipping the lens cap down).

That basically negates every advantage of having a red dot, though.

Does anyone have experience with the Aimpoint 3x vs 6x magnifier? Reviews of the 6x are nearly non-existent.

I have one of the 3 power magnifier that I use on different M4’s and on short barrel rifles. I usually only use it for helping zero my rifles and I take with me for some coyote hunting. I use it for coyote hunting more as spotting scope. I really like Aimpoint dot sights. I have (6) T1’s and (5) of the M3/M2 Aimpoints. I’ve used the magnifier behind all of them, I’ve even used it in some training classes. I have it mounted on the Larue swing out mount. I really do not care for it that much for it. I’m not sure why their is so much love for the magnifiers. I just never have seen or been in a situation where its that much of a advanatage over just the Aimpoint sight especially with a carbine length gun. I have a eye injury which causes some blurring of the dot when using the Aimpoint alone, the magnifier just makes that even worse. When you look at the cost and weight of the maganifier plus the cost of Aimpoint, I would rather buy a 1x8 power optic. I have a Trijicon T24 and I much prefer it over the Aimpoint plus magnifier.
