Nice little package, not that the T1 wouldn’t fit the bill as it stands now, but by September the T2 may be a nice edition to my 6720 I keep putting in the back of the safe.
I’m going to go with a T1 on my next build, but this definitely intrigues me. It will be released about the time I’m ready to begin my next build also, maybe it’s fate lol. I was going to go T1 with an IO cover. Has the T1/H1 had issues with ruggedness? I hadn’t heard of any issues from the users here. I do like the flip up caps. I wonder how close it will be priced to the other micro offerings?
Every Micro i’ve seen has been bombproof, especially after seeing what Daniel Defense did to their rifle and Micro during their torture test.
I have not seen an updated price list from Aimpoint yet, but I would guess the T1/H1 will see a reduction in price point. I just hope they don’t bring the T2 in at a close to $800 price point like the M4s.
Yes they beat that thing to hell in that video. And it kept on kicking, it’d be way more than I would ever do to my rifle but knowing that you can, is always good for the piece of mind. Yeah, I didn’t think the T1/H1 had any issues at all, I just did not know if someone on here had a negative experience or whatnot. Obviously though, someone somewhere had something go down to the point aimpoint had to address what we see as a non-issue. If the price creeps up to around $800 that would definitely turn me away from it to the old tried and true T1/H1, I really hope that’s not the case though.
How great would it be to see PRO type pricing on T1’s after the T2 is released?
Exactly my thought. Either way there should be some good deals on used T1’s soon.
That would be amazing, but it would also probably put the PRO out to pasture.
A $416 H1 would please me to no end.
Bombproof once you have it mounted. The aluminum threads get stripped way too easy by the little steel screw.
While I agree that running steel thread inserts would be ideal, generous threadlocker use and using their torx wrench (and stopping when the wings flex a bit) they hold fine, but that’s a price/weight tradeoff I think Aimpoint was on the right side of.
I’m still too happy with my menagerie of T1’s and H1’s, and would still argue that the H1 is the better value argument.
I am ok with a secondary market/retailer glut of T and H-1’s; and the even more rugged stats are slightly amusing to me. The one improvement that I actually welcome would be improved lenses, the blue-ish tint does bother me in some conditions; so I am eager to see how that has been addressed.
Damn. Looks good.
Looks unnecessarily bulkier. I was hoping they would make an even smaller optic (for pistols), not a slightly larger one.
Well hopefully it will drive T-1 prices down.
The one improvement I look for is for Aimpoint to finally make a micro that does not require batteries. I made the decision several weeks ago to get rid of my Aimpont micros and get one or more ACOG’s as funds allow. As to your secondary market: all but one of my “used but minty” Aimpoints sold within three weeks, so the market is already there. I expect the fourth to be sold within days.
“Greater clarity” … ok, that is interesting.
Actually, I have to admit I noticed a slight clarity issue with one of my T1’s–nothing major–but noticeable. One of my T1’s had something like a “cataract” on the objective lense, probably from one of the coatings. It had acceptable clarity when looking through the lense, but every once in a while looking “at” the lense from the front you could see some cloudiness if the light was just right. My other T1 didn’t have this.
Again, I’m not saying it’s a big thing or that the majority of people would even notice, but apparently the folks at Aimpoint felt they could do better.
Probably found a way to keep the nv compatibility and lose the greenish tint. Aimpoint PRO’s don’t have that tint and is noticeably clearer than the T1. T2 will be a hot seller!
I’m in the market for a T1 and now I’m keeping an eye on prices.
anxious to see how this shakes out.
I wonder if the rear cap will be similar to the PRO models (with the see-through center).
