The GG&G one does look odd. It looks like they tried to get a traditional ring type mount to work by grabbing the small diameter extensions at either end of the optic, and added their own extensions to hold the flip caps.
Yeah, I have done that with a H1.
Attached are pictures of the Micro T-1 on a LaRue Tactical Tall Riser, Short Riser, and the standard Aimpoint Micro Mount. The Short Riser and the standard Aimpoint Micro Mount are the same height. Difference is the Aimpoint throw lever.
Also there are pictures of the Micro on a LT Tall Riser with an Aimpoint 3X in an LT Pivot Mount and the 3X in the Aimpoint Twist Mount.

Iāve got over 1K rounds on my rifle now using the H1 as a close range optic (I love the speed of the H1 over JP iron sights). I just modified a Ruger 10/22 picatinny mount (Weigand Custom) to replace the JP 2" rail (I cut it down and refinished with Norrells flat black). The JP rail with the H1 was too short. Itās now perfect and in the same plane as my Leupold in a Larue SPR-E mount so that I donāt have to get down on the stock lower to use the H1.
The GG&G mount attaches only by the screws. The rings are to allow use of the flip up lense covers.
Its pretty slick actually.
It is neat, but not at the $200 price tag IMHO. The LT T-1 mount is only $98.

Valid point, but on the other hand, Ive come to appreciate having lense covers for several reasons. Hope another solution comes along.
Since it can sit so low, Iād love to try it on an AK (i.e. Ultimak rail).

That is a sweet setup.
I mounted my T-1 to the ARMS Tactical rail on my Mod0.
It seems no one uses these tactical rails for anything on all the Mod0 builds anymore.
However, for me, it is a better solution than the various offset mounts, rail mounts and so forth.
Even if mounted in the same plane (like gotm4ās fabulous setup) I just have a problem ārotatingā the rifle to acquire the dot. It might have something to do with my being a southpaw, corrective lenses, or the fact that I have a lot of training with A2 receivers with Aimpoint/ACOG sights.
To me, itās very natural to slide up the stock from the iron sights of a carry handle to acquire the Aimpoint or ACOG red dot/donut or vice versa.
This same motion works very well for the transition from the MR/T 3-9 scope to the T-1 dot and back. The āheads upā cheekweld when using the dot works very well for close shooting, and it seems natural to use both eyes when shooting this way.
Anyway, after a little time doing some rapid fire with the T-1 at the range, Iām very pleased with itās worth on this platform.
It takes a little getting used to but the efficiency of motion and VERY short amount of time (about a 1/2 second) it takes to transition from the main optic to the close range optic is VERY fast. I sight this optic is for 15yds and I can make head shots with in on a metric IPSC target as fast as I can pull the trigger. For me itās strictly a competition thing where itās all about speed, I donāt think I would mount a H1 or T1 like this on a āfor real rightingā rifle.
The way you have yours set up it would probably be good to sight in for 50yds and use it when at full power (8-10x) on your primary scope which would be quicker than reaching for and moving the power ring. For a precision rifle that would be the best way to run it.
