Aimpoint T-1

Just got two of these in and thought I would get some pics up. I must say that this is a really impressive optic for its size.

Grant, Do you see these being used as a primary optic on an AR? I think the size/weight would make them good for a SBR. Saw on TOS that LaRue will be making a mount for it.

Does these simply produce an aiming dot that is basically the same as the other Aimpoint optics???

What are the specs, ie weight size, price?

thanks!

Ditto the price request.

Looks like it will be relatively painless for LaRue to develop a mount for this.

Interested in pricing as well.

GG&G has a QD mount with flip open covers in their July flyer.

I think that thing would absolutely kick ass on my MP5’s top RAS rail.

Height wise how well would a PRI M69 weapons mount for the PVS 14 fit behind it?

You can learn more about the Micro T-1 at www.aimpoint.com

It weighs 3.6 ounces, uses a CR2032 Lithium watch battery that lasts 50,000 hours (over 5 years) constantly on at setting 7. First four settings are for NVD use, upper 8 settings are visible. It is submersible to 85 feet. The dot is 4 MOA and it is designed to be used on shotguns, pistols, rifles/carbines, subguns, machineguns like the M249 and M240G, and compound bows using the HHA Optimizer mount. It will fit both Picatinny and Weaver rails. Retail for the Micro T-1 is $650, but expect advertised prices to be lower. The civilian Micro H-1 will retail for $600 and is just as rugged, but is not NVD compatible and only submersible to 15 feet.

LaRue Tactical and GG&G are both making risers for Micro use on M4/MK18s. Tactical Night Vision Co is now making a mount for 30mm and 1" scopes, the SAR3 and SAR1.

I would think that these would have a big following with the IPSC 3-gun crowd for that 3 o’clock or 1:30 mounting as a backup/cqb for a magnified optic.

Grant, what would you see as the pros/cons of using a mini in lieu of a “full size” ML3?

This will be popular in many differerent groups for sure. The price tag will scare of many though.

With the tube being smaller than a standard Aimpoint, you are narrowing your FOV. The mount of couse will not co-witness on a flattop AR. Other than that, I can can no fault with it.

I wonder if this would find a good home on the XCR? Since one of the complaints I hear is that the standard AR sights/optic mounts sit too high, this might directly address that problem.

there is space on my 45 AR for this…

Grant,
The Micro’s “FOV” is essentially unlimited (or limited within the capabilities of your eyes) if you fight/shoot with both eyes open. It is often improperly stated by some that tubular red dot optics “limit” your field of view. This comment is often based on a lack of proper training. I know in your case that is not true and my comment is not mean’t to imply that or be seen negatively by any other readers.

I have tried the Micro on the MagPul Masada and FN SCAR, both of which are somewhat similiar to the XCR regarding stock to rail height. You’ll still need a small riser to get it proper height. Yankee Hill currently makes one that raises it about 1/2", but I haven’t been able to try it yet.

Regarding height of other Aimpoints on the XCR et al, simply remove the spacers from the different mounts to achieve the proper height. Larue and GG&G mounts being the exceptions as they build their mounts at different fixed heights vice using spacers like Aimpoint or ARMS.

S/F

You are right on my FOV comment. I meant it to imply that the smaller tube narrows everything compared to its big brother.

Wow, the GG&G riser is rather inspired - the LT a bit less so…

The GG&G pic is really weird as their T-1 looks nothing like the ones I have. I wonder if that isn’t an eng. drop or something.
