Aimpoint T-1 Raffle for JohnO

Guys, good odds on a great cause…

I’ll be talking with John later on today. As I’ve said, he can’t put any load on his legs, so he’s confined to a bed, or if he goes anywhere, he’s in traction.

Here’s John and Sherry enjoying a ride a few days before they were run down.

John and Sherry, and their son Will, who’s handling having both parents torn up like a trooper.

Money sent! What a tragedy. I hope they both have a speedy recovery.

Here is to a full recovery! Just bought a ticket. Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks for doing this - pp inbound

If I ever get out of Columbia SC traffic I am in.

Money has been sent. I forgot to include my M4C screen name, wasn’t sure if it was needed or not.

I hope they both have a speedy recovery.

Not needed. I will be selecting via number, and everyone is being sent their number(s) to the paypal email address of record.

There are a lot of transactions and I am catching them up right now.

Thanks,
Ed

I’m in.

Ed,

I tried to enter but pay-pal indicated you are no longer accepting. Did you meet the 250 threshold?

Paypal apparently forbids the use of their service for things like raffles. I have to remove my address from the site.

Not sure how to proceed. Standby…

If anyone knows a viable alternative to paypal, please advise. Why would a financial services entity limit the use of funds transfers for this? Not sure, but they do…

One option could be a pre paid visa. There’s a couple out there that you can just go online and add money too, similar to the way we do with PayPal. May not be the best solution, but at least it’s something.

I’ve not used GunPal, but that also be an option. I have sent money to a GunPal account before though and it worked similar to PayPal.

I wonder what that means for people like me who have paid and the transaction is “completed”, but the money hasn’t actually cleared yet. Will you still receive the money? If not, please just let me know, because I’ve got my e-ticket numbers already. We’ll get this figured out somehow.

Paypal never fails to disappoint me, which is why I rarely use it. It’s a shame that they can impose their beliefs on the people using its service, but we can’t even use it for a good cause.

Hmm sounds like a cluster. Well I’m not worried about the ten bucks. I just wish everyone’s money got where we wanted it to go.

Sent. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

I think paypal does this to protect the end user from scams, but these sort of “zero tolerance” policies make it difficult to move money for a good cause.

I am trying to get clarification if the issue is that these were sent as “gifts” or if the issue was that it was for a raffle. Their automated message said they would respond in 24 hours.

That I can understand, but people have to be discreet when dealing with Paypal. They should’ve never known it was a raffle in the first place, but I don’t know if that would’ve made a difference with them.

Hopefully someone can figure out a better way for us to get this money to JohnO and his family.

I would call them. I’ve had to wait on hold but have received good help by phone. I would say this is a gift/donation. I’m sure the $10 gifts over and over set of an alarm. If it is a violation it was made w/o any malice.
