Does anybody know of an expected battery life chart?
I know that the manual says:
setting: 8= 5 years
10=10 months
what about all the other setting?
Any charts out there?
I am really interested in setting 9. I could make an educated guess based upon setting 8 and 10. But the battery draw may not be linear between the two known settings.
Wow! Thanks for pointing this out! I figured I’d be good for at least 2-3 years… I like 10. Guess I need to rethink the settings a bit… maybe 8 or 9 is better for long term. that or buy batteries and change every 6-8 months to be safe!?
Old thread but I have the same question, battery life specifically on setting 9 on the T-1. I couldn’t find the answer via search, so if anyone knows the answer I’d be interested.
What I do, and everyone else I know that uses them every day in some type of work capacity does, is pick a date you can remember and change the battery yearly. I have no desire for some type of flow chart or advanced theory behind the battery life, I leave mine on 24/7 and replace it yearly. I have never had any problems. I’ve talked to many AimPoint guys and guys that use them much more seriously than I do in the military, they do the same thing. Another little note, I’ve been told by a few AimPoint guys that turning it on and off uses more battery than leaving it on, for those that may keep it store in a safe or something.
I wouldn’t trust such a chart because it doesn’t account for MANY factors which can affect overall battery life. Its much easier to simply change out the battery on New Years, 4th of July, Birthday, etc and keep a spare on board. I do keep the old batteries for a rainy day though
Yeah… I just buy myself a birthday present of a couple of new CR2032s and call it good… Most of the time, I’ll just leave it set at 7 and jack the intensity up, or down as needed.
What setting are you leaving it on where you only get 6 months?
Setting 7 blows, the dot is like 0.25 MOA and with a weapons light completely washes out. 7 is unusable in almost all circumstances to me. Aimpoint might as well change setting 7 to an “off” setting before the real settings (settings 8 & 9).
I would contact Aimpoint. My first 4MOA T-1 has the original battery and has never been changed or shut off. My second one is several months old 2 MOA and has never been changed or turned off. Maybe you have a defective one or a possible knock off?
Shouldn’t be a knock off as I bought it from Larue. Wasn’t sure if this was normal, as I’m an eotech guy and used to having to change batteries. Lol. Had gone with the T1 for the battery life. Guess ill have to contact aim point and see what they have to say. Mine is the 4 moa T1 as well.
I checked last night on my white walls with the Fury on, the T-1 on 7and I can clearly see the dot, it is small, however, I do not have to search for it, once the gun is up, the dot is there.
I also use setting 7 as a compromise: bright enough to be used with a WML, dim enough to be used in the partial darkness of my house.
My 2-MOA T1 is about a year and a half old and has never been turned off. I keep it at 8 unless I’m shooting in daylight. I should probably change the battery, but the gambling addict side of me makes me want to see how long it will last.
My T1 is about just as old as Ftroopers, been on for most of that time, minus the time spent in a conex on its way over here, been on and on 9 ever since, two months so far, with the insane temp swings, I’ll let you know when it eventually needs a new battery.
