Aimpoint T-1 and FSB

Hey guys. Currently I am running a aimpoint M3 with fixed front sights. thinking of the T1 for the nice weight savings. Due to the T1s 20mm tube would a fixed front sight cover a lot of the tube? It seems most T1s are being run with fold down front sights is this the reason? or would the M3s 30mm tube work better with the fixed front sights. Has anybody considered this an issue?

I am running an H-1 with a fixed FSB and never even notice the FSB when focusing on the target as one should be doing.

Totally correct. I switched from a Comp M2 to a T-1 (with fixed FSB, plus a Surefire x300 in front of it no less) and noticed exactly 2 things: 1) the gun is a hell of a lot lighter and 2) there’s much less of a ‘looking down a cardboard tube’ effect because walls of the T-1 are so much thinner. Run it with both eyes open, focus on the target and you should essentially just see a red dot floating out in space that indicates ‘hole will go here’.

No worries at all. Works great.

the only time you will notice the front sight is if you use a magnifier behind it, and have to use one eye only.

No problems here.

I run mine (well an H-1 really) on a ADM SOCOM height mount for a lower 1/3 co-witness, and in conjunction with a standard FSB and fixed DD rear.

Fixed sights are hardly noticeable, and really when running the gun are completely a non-issue.

You sure? I would think the 3x would blur out the FSB to a very unnoticeable fade?

i dont know about other people but my eyes pick up a blur of the front sight at the bottom when magnified. its not bad but its there to me. non magnified i never notice it.

If you’re seeing the front site, magnified or not, then you’re doing it wrong.

Can we get this thread, or one like it, tacked now so that we can stop seeing this same question and issue over and over again?

Leave the house, go to the range, shoot with the gun. Move and shoot. Shoot moving targets. Shoot multiple targets. Shoot multiple moving targets while on the move. If you’re noticing the front sight in all of this, you’re doing it wrong.

I would submit that if you have a lower 1/3 cowitness and a 1x optic even the REAR sight getting in the way is indicative of doing it wrong.

im sorry to upset you, but i go to the range every weekend. my brain and eyes pick up a blur at the bottom of my t1 on ggg mount with 3x magnified and 1 eye open. mabey it is my setup but i see it. as stated before mabey i see it and others dont. to each his own.

Static range?

I’m not upset. I frankly couldn’t care less what you’re doing, or that you’re doing it wrong. I’m just pointing it out for you, and it’s up to you to correct yourself or not. and I thought I’d point out to anyone else reading this that you’re doing it wrong, so that they don’t think that your results are typical, or correct.

I’m not saying it’s not there, I’m saying that if you’re affected by it (or frankly notice it at all when you’re shooting) you’re doing it wrong.

While Rob is certainly being a dick (sorry, bro), I think his point is completely valid.

It reminds me of the blue tint Short Dot complaints. If you see the tint, while you are shooting under stress, you are doing it wrong.

If you see the sights, or the blur of the sights distracts you under stress – when you are not specifically using the irons – with a RDS, you are doing it wrong.

The proper word is focus. If you get distracted by the blur, or the sights presence, your focus is all wrong.

you guys have way more time behind a rifle than i do. i believe what you are saying is true. and i will take your advise and try to work on it. but the op asked if anyone could see the front sight and i simply replied that i could see it. my eyes also have problems focusing on the eotech circle after 20-30 sec looking at my target down range it becomes a blur then starts to fade away. my aimpoint dot always looks like 2 dots blurred together. i dont wear glasses or contacts and dont need them. i must be doing something wrong. i am focusing as hard as i can at the target not the dot.

Which model aimpoint? What size dot? How far forward is your aimpoint mounted? What brightness setting do you have it at?

Sounds like you may have astigmatism. This is a very common reason for the 2 dot syndrome. I have it too…

Could you tell me ur setup and take a couple pictures of your setup front rear and sides? It si 1/3 cowitness right?

Thnx, ur setup seems ideal to me.
