aimpoint pro mounting problem

So I ordered an aimpoint pro to install it on my RRA AR and it does not have a proper fit. I didn’t notice it till I flipped up the rear BUIS and noticed it sits off to the right not dead center. This thing only goes on one way so I contact the company who sold it to me and they said they have never seen an aimpoint mount be the problem and that most likely the upper rail is out of spec.

I emailed RRA and they gave me this whole sha peal on how everything is tested and to spec then asked me if my rifle is actually malfunctioning in any way. I don’t know anybody in my area with an AR that I could try fitment with this PRO.

Any of you ever heard of fitment issues?

First pic just shows that its off and the second pic shows the alignment with the rail.

Sorry for the quality of the pics this is all I’m got right now.

See if the rail on your upper receiver is aligned with your handguard rail.

Sight down it or lay a straight edge on it.

Have you considered that the issue might be the buis rather than the receiver or aimpoint? It appears that the buis is sitting crooked to the plane of the charging handle but it could be an optical illusion. What kind of buis is it?

Looks like the BUIS is on backwards. Take a picture so we can see the BUIS from the front looking down at it at a 45 deg angle to give us a better view of the install. Lets us know the brand, it kind of looks like an ARMS but the windage is on the wrong side here.

But correct here from the BCM web site and with your photo based on orientation but without the notch on top.

Edit: After going to the ARMS sight and downloading the Manual Here it looks like it’s installed correctly.

Could it be something as simple as the lugs on the sight not correctly fitted to the rail? At first glance it looks like the entire sight is not in line…

Idk, I think its the BUIS, it seems a little wonky on there.

Hard to tell, as it seems like an optical illusion is going on here.

Can you get a pic without the BUIS on there?

Look at the air gap on the RD sight mount and the clamp side distance to the mount in the second picture. Viewing from my iPhone.

I agree. Have you tried unmounting the aimpoint and re mounting it?

Now that you mention it, that mount seems a little weird. Like its sitting in the rail weird…like the side opposite of the knob isn’t seated quite right and the there is a little too much air gap on the knob side.

Yes several times. The iron are what came on the rifle from rock river and look just like the pics the previous poster posted.

There isn’t any adjustable knobs on the mount. Just screw it on till you get 3 clicks. The second picture shows the problem. Its either a bad mount or my rail is out of spec.

I’ve been searching all morning online for a similar issue and nothing. Only issue I seen with aimpoint pro was possible the knob coming loose and having to be re tightened but nothing like this. I just figured I post here and see if anyone has experienced this.

Try mounting the optic on your quad rail and see if it mounts any better on there

Since you don’t have another AR to try it on, it’s doubtful both rails will be out of spec since they are two separate parts.

I tried that and same issue. I contacted the company I purchased this from again this morning and they told me to take it to a local gun store to get a second opinion that I may be installing it wrong. I doubt I’m installing it wrong.

OK I’ll do that tomorrow when I get my DSLR back sorry for that crap photos my camera on my phone is all I have right now. I’ll post some better pick. Everyone thanks for your help so far

It might also help to post some pics with the rear sight removed.

Ok so a guy at work told me to bring the PRO to work so we could try it out on his M&P15T and samething the mount is off center and you can really notice it when you look down his iron sights as well. It was equipped with Troy sights. Im not judging this by the placement of the red dot. In the first pic I posted is what im seeing.

Im getting my DSLR camera back later today and I tried taking pics with my camera phone but they are not worth uploading cause the quality is terrible.

So heres my question. Should I purchase a Larue LT150 mount?
