Aimpoint ml3 mount

I am currently using an ARMS mount with a cantilever riser to give me a 1/3 cowitness. I am feeling the urge to switch to a larue mount either the lt129 or lt150 for the fact that they seem more rugged and lighter. also the spare battery compartment would be nice. Any suggestions? Also where is the best place to buy a larue mount? Should I order direct from larue or is there a place I can get it a little cheaper?

When I ran a C3, I used the LT-129 and liked it. I’d buy from LaRue, in hopes of schwag and dillo dust arriving with the mount.

I have 2 ml3’s and use lt150 for both. Great mount never had any problems and yes order direct from Larue they include alot of extras with your order.

What is dillo dust??

It’s a dry-rub for meat that LaRue often sends out with whatever a customer orders. They send different schwag of all sorts: hats, little bottles of lube, stickers, other stuff.

What it IS…is delicious.

Definitely get away from that ARMS.

Is ARMS a really inferior brand of mount? I just dont like it because it seems like it has way too much metal in all the wrong places. It mounts up well on my upper but it is really heavy. The larue is definitely what I want, but it wasnt a huge priority of mine to replace the mount. Should it be?

ARMS is better than having no QD mount at all. That’s as far as I’d take it.

The manufacturing is inconsistent (spotty record with return-to-zero), the MIM armatures break relatively easily, they don’t adjust to accommodate damaged or otherwise off-spec rails…I don’t think that advising customers to shim rails with tin-foil in lieu of developing something with some capacity to account for variances to be a consumer-friendly practice.

Instead of spending money on product development and research to keep up with the state of the industry…ARMS spends it suing competitors for BS copyright-infringement and whatnot.

In much the same way that a broken grandfather clock is right at least twice in a day, you will find ARMS mounts that work just fine. That’s not the trend. Their CS is generally garbage, too, whereas LaRue just about bends over backwards in support of their product.

I’m in no position to TELL you that your mount isn’t working…for all I know, it has performed exactly as you want it to. That said, you’ll still be upgrading by going with a mount from ADM or LaRue.

Thanks JSantro for the advice. I have not ran the rifle hard yet as I just got the rifle/sight a couple months ago. The mount came with the sight. I have a couple training classes that I will be attending next summer and I dont want to put my faith in an inferior product. For the $115 I will replace the ARMS with a lt150 if for nothing else peace of mind. That part about the tin foil really took me for a spin.:sarcastic:
