Does the CompM4 (or M4S) offer any significant advantages over the Aimpoint Micro? ![]()

I donât own the M4(s), but I do own an ML2 and an H-1. I like the larger field of view that the ML2 provides versus the H-1. However, the H-1 is noticeably lighter, and Iâll take that over the ML2. I donât really care about the 2 MOA vs. 4 MOA dot.
In regards to the M4, it has a reputation as damn near bulletproof, although after seeing the Daniel Defense torture test video, in which a T-1 was subjected to some pretty extreme situations, Iâd venture to say that the Micro series is really, really tough too.
I donât kick down doors or kill bad guys with my AR, just training, so I donât really abuse my equipment, but I think it is safe to say that either the M4 or a Micro would be an excellent choice.
Battery type and life would come into consideration if used in a duty or MIL issue rifle.
Field if view are different. depends on your needs.
The weight is a huge consideration.
And with the 2MOA T1 the dot size is a non issue.
I dont really see one as better than another. It just really matters as far as what you prioritize.
I had a couple of T1âs sold them for the M4s models.
The M4 was easier for me to pick up with the 30mm.
But I sold most of them for the 1-4 style scopes.
I had an M4s and I just sold it because I thought it was too big. Iâll be replacing it with the new 2 MOA T-1 as soon as Grant has them available.
Have any of you guys who have used an m4/m4s experienced issues with aa batteries leaking/swelling ?
The 3v button battery in the t1 vs AA in your optic may be something to consider. I donât know which would hold up better to hard use. I would love to hear what aimpoint has done in terms of torture tests and whether or not they have had issues with AA lithium or alkaline batteries.
There is no reason to run an alkaline AA. Theyâre the ones that leak and corrode and give unreliable performance over temperature swings. Itâs like putting bad tires on a sports car and blaming the car for poor performance.
This. I use lithiums exclusively.

Iâve shot the M-4âs quite a bit but currently only own T, H, and R 1âs. For me there is no issue with the smaller objective. Iâve been shooting these pretty much exclusively for about 3 years now. I realize the M4 is currently the âgold standardâ much like the 6920 is to carbines but I donât own one of those either. For me the price isnât a factor. I buy what I want, within reason but I prefer the micros.
the aimpoint micro vs M4 question has been discussed in these threads already:

I went from an M4s to a 4moa T-1.
I like everything about the T-1 better including the 4moa dot.
Pros:
- Objective size doesnât matter with both eyes open. I think the smaller sight offers a less cluttered field of view.
- lighter
- smaller
- 4moa dot makes a lot of sense with the trajectory of a 5.56
Cons:
- Iâll have to buy two batteries instead of one in the next decade.
Two questions regarding this:
-
Donât some say the dot on the Microâs is more likely to be disfigured if you have any sort of astigmatism?
-
How resistant are the Microâs lenses to scratching? I ask because most Comp Series Aimpoints have lens caps and the Micro doesnât.
I never use lens covers on any of my Aimpoints, I just make sure I clean em with a soft cotton cloth and a good glass cleaner.
