In life things change and evolve. I know of LEO snipers who have had to take suspects into custody themselves when things went wrong and the suspects literally ran up to their blinds not knowing they were there. Situations evolve things and plans don’t go like you want. Plus even at close range say 50 yards there are times you need magnification to see something a bit better. The ability to quickly change back and forth is an asset even if its not needed all the time.

Decided to get the larue flip to side mount and it’s perfect for what I need. Thank you for the input!
I have both and use both the twist mount and the Larue flip for different tasks.
I do not believe I would use my 3x in a SD or social situation. I love the 3x for zeroing and testing accuracy of various loads but for SD, I cannot imagine needing a 3x stateside, except maybe a Texas tower counter sniper type scenario. My vision is 20/17 so the RDS alone is plenty. I do not believe most people like the 3x mag on the rifle full time, either twist mount or flip.
For 3-gun, I would use the flip mount due to the varying ranges. I sometimes use the twist mount because I have several AR’s and I can use the single 3x mag on several rifles.
Now if I were deployed overseas, especially in open areas, I would want the option of the 3x.
