I recently purchased an M4S. It arrived, new in box, with this:

Notice the highlighted area - it’s a depression down the middle of the body that can be felt with a finger. It’s obviously where the housing was machined and more metal was removed from that area than the rest of it.
Quick question. Yes, I know the Aimpoint is a military-grade sight. I know it’s intended use is for combat, not for sitting on safe-queens. No contest there. My question is, is this common? I have two M4 models and neither show this type of machining mark.
If this was a $1000 scope (similar price range to the Aimpoint), most here would be dissatisfied at such machining work. Is it unreasonable to request a replacement? It’s VERY obvious in person.
