Aimpoint CompM4 or Leupold CQ/T?

While I love the CompM4’s ruggedness & battery life I’m considering magnification options that don’t include using a separate magnifier hence my interest in the CQ/T. While nearly all of my shooting will be closer in I would like (but am not sure I need) onboard magnification for the occasional longer shot. Which would you choose and why? Other options? Thx!..

Aimpoint M4S for the win…
If you need magnification get a 3x Aimpoint magnifier.

I have both and based on your anticipated needs the M4S is the solution you want.

Why you ask?

The CQ/T is not really for CQ. I myself use it only for medium range varmint shooting, or maybe 3-gun. Definitely NOT for CQ.

The Aimpoint Comp M4S/Aimpoint 3x mag in a LaRue pivot mount is a superior set-up to the CQT. Even the overall weight is comparable, and the LaRue/3x mag can be quickly/easily removed/re-installed if you so wish.

The CQT’s battery life is horrible as well. I know of very few shooters that actually like the CQT after shooting one for any period of time. I know there are a couple of guys floating around here and on AR15.com that really like them, but they are few and far between.

If price is a limiting factor, the “Poorboy Special” LaRue pivot mount/Hensoldt 2.5x mag cant be beat for $195.00

I’m issued a 16" AR with a CQ/T. I picked the optic out a few years ago. The rifle is used as an alternative to the PSS for closer range use, with the option of turning the power down to “1x” indoors if needed. However, the illumination on the reticle isn’t very visible in bright light, and the battery life is only 600 hours.
It is OK for what it is, but if I was able to do it over again, I’d get a CompM4 (I have one on a personal AR, and on the one mounted in my car) along with the magnifier.
