Hey guys, I’m thinking about picking this package up for my first AR (linked below). It seems really, really hard to beat that price for the sight, mount, and BUIS. Are there any other deals you guys would consider, or any other combo packs you guys would recommend? The $545 for RDS, mount, and BUIS is right at the tip of my price range. Thanks!
Couple thoughts. First, I wouldn’t buy an M2. Stick with the ML2 (if you have to have a 4MOA dot). Second, if you want a 4MOA dot, rethink that and consider a 2MOA dot.
GG&G products are, well “OK” I think. There are better mounts and BUIS’s out there.
IMHO, I would go with the C3 (2MOA) and a ADM mount (for cheap deal) $465 or go with an H1 with either a LT, ADM or DD mount.
Aaron_c, I was in the same boat as you several years ago. I ended up doing both purchases, as Grant and others suggested.
I bought an Aimpoint C3 with a 2 MOA dot, and the cantilevered ADM mount. It allowed my to buy a 3x magnifier later, and increase the versatility of that carbine.
I purchased an Aimpoint H-1, with an ADM mount for the next one. An advantage of the ADM, is that I can change it from absolute co-witness to lower third co-witness, just by changing a $20 spacer. I do not have to shit-can a $100 mount. More cost savings.
The ADM gear is very well made, and very cost effective in the combo packages. When you start looking at MSRP, Grant’s basically giving you the ADM mount for free.
G & R is a well-regarded vendor here, because they actually know what they are doing, and have good service. That’s a rare combination in the firearms world. Plus they are a family business, owned by a disabled veteran. That counts in my book, too.
And I’m saying this as someone who’s probably put the first year’s tuition money in his boys’ college fund.
Between the two coughs was a hotlink to the ADM/H1 package on Grant’s site. For $540.
The same pairing that resides on my wife’s rifle. From the same source.
Choosing between an H1 and C3 is another matter - both are great carbine sights, similar battery life and both are tank-like; and if you prefer a larger tube and more precise dot, the C3 without question. The H1 shines for being compact and very easy to operate (adjust brightness, zero).
I’m going to get the C3 + Mount from G&R for sure. Supporting American companies is always a priority and supporting veterans is as well. Done deal there. Can’t wait to get pictures up and reviews of the parts I end up with.
