I have a question for those who leave their aimpoints on constantly. What brightness level do you use that is a good balance between preserving battery life and still being usable(doesn’t wash out)? Yesterday I had to replace the battery in my 9000sc after about 1.5 years of constantly being on. That’s an impressive amount of life, but I was a bit surprised it died that early despite the 9000 having a 50,000 hour battery life. It’s got me thinking I might have set my aimpoint a bit too bright. I plan on going to the method of just replacing batteries in it every year, but I’d like to find out what setting every one uses on their aimpoints.
I have mine set on position 7. With the 2 MOA dot, it seems to give the best mix of not being too bright indoors, and not being washed out in sunlight…at least for my eyes.
It’s an Aimpoint C3
I haven’t owned it long enough to comment on battery life.
I keep the micro set on 8.
The CompC’s listed battery life is at a setting of 7. I’d be interested in hearing what actual real world battery life has been from people who leave them on at Aimpoints stated settings.
I just pulled this from Aimpoints site for the 9000sc
"Battery Life, typical** 50,000 hours at setting 7 out of 10 "
What did you have it set on?
Same here - 8 seems to be a good compromise. Not too bright for use inside a dark basement and bright enough to be seen in direct sunlight outdoors.
7 during the day, i turn it down to 5 at night. that 2 MOA turns into about 10 MOA on 7 in the dark
Yeap do the same thing ![]()
M4s on setting 12, all day, all night, all the time. 11 years later, I might change my batt. ![]()
I find 12 to be OK in most daylight, and its optimal for indoor use where having a 10moa dot won’t be a huge penalty, but my rule of thumb is that I have to be able to see the dot against a white wall being flashed by my light.
That’s why I run it lower 1/3 with a fixed rear sight instant back ups.
And all the other time the dot is not blinding me.
I run my H-1’s on 5 - I figure at night is most likely use, and during the day I can get by with the caveman EOTech concept of using the tube as a crude rear sight until I can turn it up.
you must be sporting some serious lms… this is why i wont go brighter than 120. i can see the dot on setting 5 against a white wall just fine with an m951
