Aftermarket grips

Just looking for some feedback on the various aftermarket grips out there.

What are your experiences, preferences, and warnings?

Thanks in advance.

BTW…I have fairly large hands, XL glove size.

The Magpul MIAD is my absolute favorite. 2nd is the Ergo and 3rd is the Tangodown.

I’ve looked at pictures of the MIAD and it looks good. I’d like to get one in my hand first before I bite the bullet.

It’s expensive but it does fit about 95% of all people you can make it big like an Ergo/SPR or small like an A1

I would say the Magpul MIAD. adjustable back straps to fit your needs… I have bear paws aswell. and my opinion the Magpul MIAD fits the bill for me… my second choice will be Tango battle grips. followed my first samco G27. The three mentioned also have Grip core storage for 123’s,AA etc.

Good luck on what fits your needs…

DT!

I like my Tango Down grip but if you’ve got big mitts I’d try the MIAD like they said. The TD is small even for me and my smallish hands. I’m going to try the MIAD on my next build.

what do you guys mean by ergo? The donut bottomed, hk style grip?

Templar, I think you’d like the MAID grip.

I prefer either a standard grip or a Tango Down if I need to carry batteries for my EoTechs. On my guns with Aimpoints I run the standard, A2, style grip.

I find the MIAD the most comfortable, as do most shooters and officers I deal with. Aside from the MIAD, I am a big fan of the A2.

My 6721 middy with MIAD grip

After: LMT with Magpul MIAD grip

Before: My stock LMT when I first got it with factory TD Battlegrip

+1 with the Magpul MIAD grip, I have them on my carbines, they come with three size backstraps, the good thing with that is you could switch to a smaller backstrap when using gloves.

I got a TangoDown Battlegrip which was a factory issue on my LMT Defender 2000 lower but it’s small for the size of my hand so I switched to MIAD.

My second favorite is the A1 because I got used to it with my first AR a SP-1, these days I just use Duck Bill grips on my two plain Jane ARs.

I think you guys pushed me to the MIAD. I like the A1 grip over the A2, the finger piece on the A2 gets in my way.

Thanks again for the pics, they helped!

I still love my Ergo grips. Being in Florida it is nice to have the rubber surface to grab with sweaty hands and the “duck bill” fills the web of my hand nicely. Not to mention it is hard to go wrong with all that for $20.

My $.02

I don’t have an opinion on grips as of yet, but I have had my hands on a few different ones. I am looking forward to the MIAD. I think it will be my choice.

After trying most of the aftermarket grips available my personal favorite is still the Tango Down. The only thing I add is some 3M-grip tape. It can get a little slick after it gets wet or you have sweaty hands.

I use the Command Arms G27.

Good old “Duck Bill” still feels about best to me… if anyone has some laying around that they want to sell, I am in for a five spot for each of them

I’ve put on an A1 grip now until I can make up my mind.

Thanks for the input everyone.

I have a MIAD on two of my rifles…I have gotton used to them and I like the size it ad’s. I have a stock A2 on one of my RRA’s and I want to leave it.

I have never used any of the others except just for a quick mag dump with a fellow shooters rifle.

I have and used just about every after market grip made … I still cant make up my mind deciding what is grip nirvana?
Ergo Grips brand I like very much but I dont keep one mounted on my carbines…I even have an Ergo brand FAL grip for the AR15 !! Falcon Industries offers alot of choices. www.ergogrips.net
Tango Down too small I like the design, if it was made with a tang …there
would be no other … great lockup
Hogue- same issue as above…great lock up
A1 or A2 same issue as above and I hate the finger groove on the A2 …great lock up
MIAD well it just drove me nuts trying to figure out which way to configure
it this way that way - hell all I wanted was a solid grip that did not feel like a
broom handle, So I use an MIAD with the front strap sanded glass smooth and I added some stippling where I needed it and placed a skate-board tape insert in the palm area. I wish MAGPUL would just make a solid version for those of us who dont want the choice.
So its whatever fits your hand the best and there is nothing worse than mail ordering something you end up not being satisfied with it.
Good Luck just remember the search for the proper equipment never ends !

I guess I’m an old timer, but I really like my Hogue grips.

This TD grip Grant sent me is also very nice.
