Nice he can afford to travel overseas.
What a piece of shit.
Our tort system is in DIRE need of reform.
In a county near me there was an OIS. The man was kicking in a door while holding 2 knives. His girlfriend was holding their 4 month old and baring the door with her body.
Officer arrives looks in the window on the side of the house and sees the woman holding the child screaming, holding her own knife, in obvious terror. Officer checks with dispatch to confirm victim/offender. Officer kicks in front door, sees man holding 2 knives turn and run at him down a hallway measuring little more than 15 feet. Officer yells, STOP, fires and hits offender with 3 rounds.
Immediately woman comes out the door screaming, YOU SHOT MY BABY!!! Officer freaks thinking she meant a stray round struck her child. After a few breathless moments he realizes she means the man.
Man survives. Woman and man now suing. And it’s gaining momentum… Figure that one out.
That kind of story just stinks.
That kind of stuff has been going on forever. Before I went in the military(mid 80’s) I worked a small town PD for a little more than a year. We would take a guy to county jail for beating the snot out of his wife/girlfriend/ho of the weekend and she would be at the jail with bail money before we could get him processed. Several times we hooked them both up because the female would attack us for “subduing” and cuffing him, because she didn’t want him to go to jail, she just wanted us to referee the fight.
They were always pissed when they found out it didn’t work like that:D
I know personally, our directives are written in a way that encourages the officers harm and death over the BG. I don’t doubt it’s like that other places as well.
An FOF scenario I’ve run is based on crap like this.
Student(s) see M & F walking down street. M begins to scream at F, calling her a bitch and telling her she’s dressed like a whore, etc. When F screams back at him, M knocks her to the ground. If student(s) fail to react (remember, sometimes the students are not LE), M starts to punch and kick F while she is on the ground. F screams for help.
When student(s) begin to deal with M, F scurries away a few feet. M is extremely belligerent with student(s). If student(s) get physical in any way with M, he draws a gun. Student(s) draw guns. Then F (who has usually been completely forgotten by this point) draws a gun and shoots at any student(s) trying to hurt her dearly beloved M.
M invariably gets shot and “dies.”
If student(s) are civilians, next step is that the police show up. Student(s) explain they were trying to help F.
F’s version of the story is that student(s) tried to rob them and shot M in the process.
The percentage of students who are absolutely stunned to learn that the nice policeman doesn’t psychically know they’re the ones telling the truth is somewhere in the high nineties.
Moral of the story: the dumb chick wouldn’t still be with the guy if she didn’t love him enough to ignore the fact that he beats her. LOVE > LOGIC.
