I’m not encouraging panic buying, but most .224 bullets under $15 per hundred are out of stock everywhere. I’ve stocked up myself should shelves be bare for a while.
Edit: All sold out. Hopefully some of you were able to get your orders in.
They’re gone. I just can’t buy something I know is crap… even for short range training/blasting.
You buy those shit bullets and then you need to segregate them for training only and what not… I hate having something under the roof like that… cuz then I forget which ammo is crap 3 months from now, etc…
They suck. I tried some of the 62 grain last week and i thought i had gone full retard after shooting them. Groups opened up to between 6 and 8 moa. Fortunately i was able to return them to my LGS for a full refund.
55gr have been out of stock for some time (Nov.). I had to resort to buying from a local reloading company that was willing to part with 3k @ $.11 per.
Not sure where they got them, but much to my irritation, they are mismatched pulls, and about 10% are 62gr. No steel core yet…
Midway is now out of stock, no backorder on Hornady 55gr bulk.
I hope this shit storm turns into nothing and gets back to normal soon.
I was very surprised when I checked the week of the panic to see that Midway still had 77gr SMK’s for $12.79/50 and Win. 64gr Power Points at $18.89/100. These were in the monthly flyer, thought they would have sold out the first week of the sale. These are my two of my favorite .224 bullet types… was cool to be able to get them on sale.
He is referring to the people who think the 55 is the only bullet for AR shooting. Im pretty sure you do not fall into that category. For carbine classes it is hard to find a better bullet than the hornady 55’s fmj or sp or any other 55-62 fmj that can achieve minute of man.
That reminds me I need to pick up some more 8208, read alot of good reviews and tried it for .223 and like it and want to use it for my 6x45 but am getting low.
I stopped by my local Cabela’s on Friday and it was the same thing there. A couple lbs of 8208 still on the shelf but not a damn small rifle primer to found…
