Should I reverse stake it and twist or just give it a good “yank.”
I assume it isn’t reusable either way??

i think the safest way for the receiver is to dremel out the endplate behind the stake. leave a little sliver of endplate left, if you need to re-use the castle nut, so you don’t cut into it… then just give it a little elbow grease, and violin- should come off.
I simply used a quality wrench and applied steady even pressure. That usually breaks it loose.
i guess i understood the OP to be having trouble getting it off…
definately try wrenching on it first.
What Iraq said, just get a good wrench and go at it. I do it all the time and reuse all the parts without problem.
Me too…
Me three.
Sorry, I couldn’t help it. Seriously, quality wrench and steady, even pressure.
