Advice on Grips MOE or Tangodown?

I’m looking for a replacement grip without the finger bump but I’m having a hard time decifding between the MOE or Tangodown.

Looking for pros/cons and why.

Thanks

Tango Down is basically a smoothed out A2 grip.

MOE is similar but thicker, obviously.

The Tango Down would be ok for people with small hands. I like the MOE as it puts my finger where its supposed to be on the trigger, and feels fuller in my hand. The A2 and Tango down sized grips force me to bunch up my hand/fingers.

I prefer the Ergo grips.

The Tangodown is a great grip. It’s slender, but for me after having surgery on both hands for carpal tunnel release I can’t bend my wrists for long without some discomfort so I use Magpul MOE and MIAD grips on my ARs. For me the Tangodown angle is too steep.

I think they are both great grips, and like many things comfort depends on the end user. I have the Tango Down, and chose it only because I like the storage system better than the MOE. The Tando Down is quite a bit thinner than the MOE as well.

I’m with Robb. The TD is a great grip and it’s what I used before the MOE was introduced, however, the grip angle and size on the MOE fits me better. The TD is steeper and made my hand ride too high on the rifle.

Its a matter of personal preference, for me, my hands are a bit too large for the TD. If at all possible, handle them both and go from there.

Thanks all,

The reason I want to replace the stock version is my hands are too large making the trigger reach too short. I also want one that has a good gripping surface.

Based on your description, it sounds like the MOE might do the best for you. The MOE is a bit larger and fills the gap or upper curve at the back of the lower receiver.

Went to the gun show and after handling the Ergo, TD and MOE, I bought the MOE. Getting ready to put it on tonight.

Is the trap door on the bottom supposed to be slightly loose (rattle)?

For those with real large hands the Stark grip is worth a look. I liked the ergonomics of it but it was too large for my dinky hands.

The MOE and the MIAD have the backstrap that places the hand in a more natural position. The trigger finger finds a better position with these grips, IMO

I installed the MOE…feels great.

Thanks to all who contributed.

I used the TD for years, and still like it fine.

I’m now using the MOE, but I do wish it incorporated an integral way of covering the gap. I use the Gapper and fill the need but would prefer not to have to add a secondary product.

That makes it simple, the Magpul MIAD offers more choices with its modular front and backstraps while retaining a highly aggressive texture.

You still an active duty redhat/ CATM?

Stickman,

Yes I am. I’ll be retiring this year though. Can’t wait to grow that beard!!!

Original CATM, or a crosstrain? Doesn’t seem like there are many of the original CATM guys left.

Is the MOE with the MOE trigger guard still as bad? I’ve only used the metal TG with the MOE and I love that combo.

Have you tried the Ergo Deluxe Tactical or Stark SE-1? They have the lowest angles. The Stark has great support, and even comes in digital desert camo.

To OP - The Stark is very nice for large hands. It has a long pull that puts the tip of your finger on the trigger. The shape of it is a bit long and narrow, like the M&P, 1911, or Walther grips on their handguns. The MOE I would compare more to a Glock. I’ve only gripped the MOE once though.
