Advantage of "high" positions with rifle

Hi Kyle,

I attended your 2 day pistol class at Chabot last year and your take on high port running with a pistol was eye opening so I wanted to ask you about high positions with rifle.

In this thread: http://m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=96756 you mentioned there are very significant advantages to high port and high ready with rifle, but didn’t go into too much detail as to what, when and why.

Can you tell us what some of those advantages are specific to rifles?

Thanks!

For brevity sake, it may be easier to answer this backwards.

The only advantages a LOW position offers is comfort while patrolling, and questionably a faster 1 shot hit time ( from low ready) - that really depends on what you consider low ready though. For all else, including tactical movement, reloads, running, you’ll never beat a high position.

Bottom line- know 'em all.
