Look at the recoil on the G-11 in 3-round burst mode!
Wow. Very cool videos. What happened to the innovation from those videos? Are they still being developed or are they discarded? I especially found the ‘dual-cartridge’ and the flechettes extremely interesting (flat shooting w/ good terminal ballistics?).
How come our rifles don’t use an extremely high rate of fire to defeat body armor. Has that doctrine gone out of favor?

Did you check out the AAI rifle? “The rifles long profile aids in point shooting…” Huh? I’ve always found long rifles make point shooting more difficult, atleast with any sort of speed…

Wow, i had seen that G11 rifle video about a thousand times since its probably one of the first videos to ever grace youtube, its literally all over the place there.
The other videos however…never seen any of them. Too cool!
Besides the obvious, ie the profile of the weapons and how freakin HUGE they are, why didnt these designs ever go anywhere? Did they not work reliably? Were the cartridges too expensive to produce?
For that matter, what exactly were these rifles designed for and for who?

The HK and Steyr are compact enough for modern weapons, but the other two are boat oars.
The 45 round G-11 magazine looks impractical though; spare mags would too long to be manageable.

While they did do something novel with the ammo, otherwise, it is a Colt M4 which has existed in one form or another since the late 60’s. They hung some weird shit off of it, but look at the R&D poured into the other weapon systems! This mindset and lack of product improvement and development really makes me despise Colt. For a 500lb gorilla in the American arms market, they don’t, and never seem to have, done much besides rest on their laurels.
Sorry for the rant…
Hey. At least Colt put a folding front sight on their ACR, since it was a primarily optic sighted weapon. The conservative dummy here is the US military.
