Had some request from some here at M4 for me to get back on here and let them know what I am up to.
No I’m not dead!! still kickin. Had some personal Life stuff to work through, life now is A1+ things are going great!!!
I’m still building my piston uppers, thing is every one I am able to build I am selling right here at home, most are going to soldiers at Fort Bragg, some have ended up in the sand box, word of mouth has kept me busy!
I have come to a crossroads… after the first of the year I have decided to build my Piston uppers full time. I have also been talking to a top tier AR manufacture in regards to my Piston upper. I am also looking at fielding a new cartridge that a friend has been working on for several years that fits/shoots in the AR15 platform… its awesome !!!
Also to you guys here who bought one of my Piston uppers, let me say Thank you!! I have had a couple request for some extra piston springs, which I would be glad to send out free. I would like to hear any of your comments you have regarding your ADC piston uppers…Thanks…AD
Rodger,
I am back logged about 2-3 weeks depending on the barrel 11.5, 14.5, 16, .
I have tried to keep the price down, but had to increase it a little ( shipping cost as well as some parts have gone up)
I have tweaked some of the specs. on my uppers, but they haven’t really changed, just some specs. to make the manufacture a little easier.
I am very pleased with the way the ADC uppers have been doing, I have had almost 0 problems, and the couple were just a brain fart forgetting to tighten up the handguard screws, I have developed a check list system to take care of that, and as always each upper is fired at least 30 rds., with an e-otech at 80 yards to make sure the upper prints where it should.
Good to hear from you Iraqguns
The picture is the new cartridge that I am working on with a friend, its a 6.5 S. Its on the left in the picture, M855 (62g) on the right. The 6.5S fires a 6.5 144g fmj bullet, and can be had in the AR15/M16 platform using 6.8 mags!!
Very interesting… What’s the specs on the case? What powder(s) will be used? Any other bullet weights in the future? Do bugs have friends?
As a new fan of the piston set up (still lovin the DI, though) I’d like to learn more about your product and efforts. Please keep us posted and welcome back, sir.
The case is basically a mini 308, it was ( like some others) taken from the 30 Remington, the powder capacity is 34grns. The neat thing about it is the 144grn. Lapua bullet ( that ant no joke ) and the fact it runs in the AR/M16 weapon system full auto like it was designed to ( it was designed that way, no special barrel extension rework The 144 bullet has a BC of .636! in comparison the 30. cal. M118LR bullet has a BC of.496, and the MK262 of .362 BC.
The guy who developed this round has been working on this project for 3+ years and has it developed into a very dependable round loaded it in many different loadings from 95v-max to the 144grn with great results.
I have a 16" middy upper with my piston system on it I will post some pictures in the next couple days. The pictures below are two of my piston guns in 5.56 with a Troy and DD rail…AD
No website up ( no way to have the time to keep up a site, but after I jump into this full time I might start working on that )
The 16" upper with the DD 9.5 FSP is $1565 shipped, that’s a little discount for the M4 folks…AD
in the 1986 gundigest there was an article of a .30 cal based on the .223 called the .30 apache. i always wondered why nobody used that rnd in an ar platform. seems it would fit & mags wouldn’t be a problem.
Not gonna lie, this round sounds extremely interesting to me. I would love to see how it performs (velocity with different weights, ease of reloading, general accuracy, etc.), and how it compares to the 6.8 SPC and 6.5 Grendel. If you ever get more info that you can share on it, please do!
Its an ass kicker round, and to think it works so well in the AR/M16 platform is awesome. I will post some ballistic info in the coming days. As far as comparing it to the 6.8, it kinda boils down to the available of match grade 6.5 bullets with some excellent BC figures compared to the bullets that are being loaded in the 6.8 SPC. Compared to the 6.5 Grendle its neck and neck, although there doesn’t seem to be anyone loading the 144 Lapua in the Grendle that I have found. What does set it apart from the Grendle is the way and ease that it feeds and functions with standard M4 barrel extensions, due to a smaller diameter tapered case and a set back shoulder, it functions FULL AUTO without a hitch. Can ya tell I’m excited!
The rifle in the picture is my 6.5S ADC midlength gas piston, this rifle has been 100% reliable and very accurate!
Thanks, Yes I really like the Berger bullets, I have shot my share of the 30 cal VLD’s, I will defiantly have to load up some in the 6.5s and see how they do!!
I am building an 18" 6.5S upper using a Satern cut rifled SS blank, I think the Bergers will like it!!
Remember, at South Hills a couple of years ago, I said I want one with a Cold Hammer Forged barrel and this ‘Top Tier’ manufacturer you are talking(and I know who it is but I ain’t spillin’ the beans;)) to is big into CHF barrels at the moment.
Hey Paul!
Yea You and Mark really put some rounds through that upper, over 6K without cleaning or lube and no hiccups
BTW I am still shooting the Mark upper!!
I have some Mur uppers coming in, LMK…
Heavy Metal
Just finished a couple 16" uppers with Hammer forged barrels…
