ACRs available at AIM Surplus

Note to self - never ever buy a hight priced production generation 1 product at high price without all the bugs being worked our, especially in a market as it is today.

Nice to have, but I can wait, kinda like the < $1K Colt 6920 vs the Obama $2500 6920…

Will get it eventually…At this time, rather buy a SCAR.

I don’t know if anyone is interested but Tanners Sports Center already has an auction for one (they expect to receive on 4/8) at $2350.

-I know cool kid/early adopter syndrome is out there so someone will buy it but it doesn’t make any sense to me to buy this version when the company has stated it is still working to refine the design in order to get the weight down and it is going to be offering different barrels down the road.

Where are you seeing SCARs at $2,100.00? Or are you speaking of the cosmetically blemmed units?

Cheers

Is that even within the GB rules to auction off something that you do not yet have, nor even own yet ?

On the face of it, $2400 is not a lot of money. I just see it as opportunity costs of all the other things that $2400 can buy, instead of the $2400 itself.

I’d rather have MSTN build me another upper, and buy a complete BCM lower…

From the description in the Tanners’ auction, they are claiming that they do own one but it has not been delivered yet. It’s possible to have an ownership interest in something that is not in one’s possession. Think about when you buy a gun online and are waiting for it to be shipped to you. You have an interest in the firearm even though it has not been transferred to you yet. -For what it’s worth, the dealer has stated it expects to receive the rifle by 4/8 and the dealer has a lot of good feedback so it does not seem like a gamble the way it would with a person who has a low feedback number.

I’ve seen many auctions over the years where a dealer has listed items as an advance sale. I don’t have the rule in front of me, but I suspect as long as the seller is up front about it being an advance sale, there isn’t a problem. A prospective buyer always has the option of passing if he doesn’t like the idea of getting involved in an auction where the seller does not yet possess the item.

Nah, I highly doubt that he has any ownership interest in that ACR, since it is unlikely that his card was charged more than one week before the gun was even supposed to be shipped. Most manufactuers charge the card when it is ready to ship. Not at the time of order.

As for the feedback, if for any reason the gun does not show up by the 8th, that is still an if at this point, his feedback should take a hit. MHO.

My local store just got one in today…for $2600, but they’re never low on any carbines.

BCM parts are really the best on the market and I have been through since 1977 4 versions of Colt AR15s

I get that maybe a dealer should not be able to advertise something he doesn’t possess yet because the risk of delay or something else going wrong is higher. -Obviously if the dealer can’t produce the rifle in a timely manner to a winning bidder the seller’s feedback should take a hit. That said, it would be the same thing if he had the firearm and didn’t transfer it in a timely manner. If someone bids on an item and wins it, you know the customer wants it now. He does not want to hear a bunch of reasons or excuses why the seller has not shipped it.

I was absolutely sold on the 14.5" BCM Middy until I saw that it only likes “high power/quality ammo.” I want my AR to eat whatever I feed it, not what it’s in the mood for. My BCM 16" middy and 6920s all do that. Still, an amazing weapon it is.

It’s about what I figured, this is the “base” model without the folding stock nor rails.

Yes, sir. That is what I am saying. It may be within the GB rules, that does not make it ethical though. Things happen.

I will buy one when the rifle is truly the adaptive combat rifle it was promised it would be.

Right now, with the only barrel being 1:9 twist the rifle offers me absolutely NOTHING that my AR15’s dont already provide.

When there are 5.45, 7.62X39, .22, 6.8 and 6.5 barrels/lowers available i will invest.

At 2300, its not terrible for what it promises to be. Do i wish it were a bit cheaper? Absolutely, i really do wish it was under 2k as i find spending over two grand on a rifle a bit hard to swallow, especially when you can put together an amazing AR for about 1100 bucks and spend the remaining 900 on three THOUSAND rounds of .223 to train with…

Until that time comes its just an expensive toy.

my thoughts to a t

Exactly.

DING! We have a winner! Although, I will note that you forgot to say that 1:9 barrel is also NOT chrome lined. Just another reason to pass on the ACR for a good M4 clone.

Im not opposed to nitrided barrels as they’re proving to be fairly durable. Still, i DO agree with you that marketing hype can be damned. I and many others have no interest in “a super technical, proprietary advanced, space aged ubersauce, will perform oral sex on you mystery coating.”

Until bushhamster discloses what they’re doing as far as a coating goes i will not be purchasing any of THEIR barrels or the ACR for the aforementioned reasons.

Speaking of conversions, have they talked about a real 22lr bolt and barrel? That would be pretty sweet.

Still working out the SBR project, might wait for a factory one instead of engraving plastic??

Onthe barrel coating, I have seen few companies put out something that different on the market and then do so little to explain or tout it. I even started a very even handed thread on their forum on TOS that simply asked for them to explain the new technology and what its advantages where. It got deleted.
