Picked up the bushmaster acr about a week after they started shipping, paid right over 2 for it.
I got the acr to be honest because i didnt like it . my plan was to abuse the hell out of it and see how many times i have to send it back. well to start off with i pulled it out the box mounted the flip up, a spare eotech and set the zero
I then decided to brake in the rifle properly with shooting 200 rounds about as fast as i could . So far so good . I heard someone mention that the rem version had problems with a couple of different mags causing BOB failures so i loaded various mags some 20 year old colt mags and ran a few drills with soem local LEOs. But before that i decided the rifle needs to get good and dirty.
gave it a bath is some ditch water ,varified function and decided it needed some more.
Have to get both sides now!
now that its good and muddy inside and out , we warmed up on some some transition drills , malfunction and meltdown drills.then we ran a few bounding drills , peels and two extended officer down drills . Total rounds so far little north of 1200 rounds. i passed the rifle around and everyone thought it was neat and “felt good” what ever in the hell that means. After training a few guys had to go so me and my partner did some shooting around
got a cool shot of the shell being flung out.
All in all i liked the rifle.

Sorry guys I’m doing this from my phone so its a little difficult.
After some of my friends left me and my bud started doing some shooting around various cover. He used the rifle during this drill and at the end of the day he put a little over 600 rounds through it. For a total of a little over 1800 rds.the ammo used was mostly 55gr hot shots, lack city 62gr, 55gr black hills and some 60 gr tap. The rifle was not cleaned at all during the shoot and is still currently not been cleaned(I did wipe down the out side so some of my buds could shoot it.) I was very impressed because I didn’t receive one malfunction. Its trying to take my bulgy krinks place of my most reliable .
My impressions so far is that its a uberreliable well thought out rifle. I do think it is very expensive but I paid more for my lwrci, barret 6.8, and will most likely pay less than the barret 556 that I will add to the safe.
The magpul sights arnt “cheap” they are inexpensive and the reason I say this is because of the quality of the sights. Would I have liked it if it came with micr sight instead of the magpul ones ? Hell yeah.
The whole grip deal is this , I only changed the grip on my other rifles because the magpul grip allows for a storage for the extra bolt. (Always a plus). So I don’t really have any need for gripchangecoolness.
The 1in9 barrel is a well know “leo” twist and I saw no issues. I have some 75 gr goodness ill try out in the future and post the review of my results. The gun is more accurate than I am. I got one and a half groups at 75 yrds off hand.
OMD posted a rtz tig mark on his barrel and ill have to copy this method. I do this normally on anything that screws on my fighting rifle but for other reasons.
Just to note I did not have any barrel “issues” with my ratching system.
I was dissapointed to find that the barrel and bolt are a bit different from an AR barrel because I gutted my 5.45 smith in hopes to have the first 5.45 acr and so it wouldn’t kill my training budget. Oh well such is life.
My two favorite features is the bolt catch and the charging handel. I can keep my firing hand where it needs to be and work the bolt/ malfunction clearnce with the other. I do not use the bolt catch as a release. Caveman simple , I love it.
I can’t tell you how many charging handels iv bent and broken so I how this one live up the the name sake of the rifle. I like the placement more so than the ar and the scar. If seem to scratch my self with the optic mount on the scar. And the acr doesn’t move which is a plus over the scar as I have been bit a few times by it.
I took it back to my training range and did some moving drill to the tune of over 400 rounds. Ill post the pic later. I also took picks of the bolt and all the mudd turned into dirt and its collected in the bottom of the reciever. Still no malfunctions.
Next week ill run a couple hundred rounds through it suppressed and see how its hanging then. I’m not cleaning it till it starts acting shitty
