Acoustic guitar players

Elixers, preferably with the nano stuff on the strings.

If you buy them from Guitar Center, you can usually grind them on the price.

Tell them to get you as close to “adpack” or “pack” as possible. It’s the magic word over there, or at least it used to be when I worked there.

+1 for Elixers Nanos

They are the only strings I will use for both my Acoustics and Electrics.

telecustom:
You have nice guitars. Looks like you have a soft spot in your heart for Gibson ES type. The red 12 string is cool, I’ve never seen one. My favorite is the Lucille.

I feel like a rookie going against that line up. For acoustic I use mostly Martin Silk n Steel strings, they’re easier on my poor finger tips.

I have some newer pics, but I need to scan them in to the PC.

1963 Gibson ES-335

Gibson J-200

1974 Gibson J-45

1962 Gibson Hummingbird

1964 Gibson Barney Kessel

1959 Gibson EB-2 Bass

I have a set of elixers nanos on my 74 ovation, sadly it’s my only acoustic. Previously always martins. Tele, you have a nice collection of gibbys. I have a silver face twin also that I reverted to a black face and loaded coffee can sros, weighs like maybe 120 lbs… It doesn’t get moved often. Keaggy was a big inspiration here as he was a local. I trough a couple of M&Ps in for another thread… to keep on topic…

studio… I’ll leave this up for a while if anyone is interested…

69 small box, 72 major, 96 slp, 89 2204, 90s 9005, ac30, 74 twin etc…

Edit… thought this might be a better pic…

My Art and Lutherier acoustic. I didn’t want to bring an expensive guitar over here. D’addario phoshor bronze strings.

At home a have a PRS single cut (pre Gibson lawsuit) at home. I keep wanting to buy more guitars, but guns are the priority it seems.

Is that a short barreled gibson? :stuck_out_tongue: Nice collection, its bad enough when you guys post firearms I need, but cameras, guitars, etc? I need a second job lol.

Another vote for Elixers…I like the Nano web phosphor bronze for my acoustics…

I use Elixer nanos on my guitars as well. I’ve never found a string I like better on them.

I used to use Elixers and then Elixer Nanos on mine, till I discovered the coated Di’ Addario EXP strings. These have been the best thing I have ever used. My hands sweat tremendously when I play. So much that if I don’t use coated strings, I’ll go through a set in less than a week. The Di Addario EXP strings that are on my Alvarez Yari now, have been there for close to a year and still sound awesome.

I would recommend Di’ Addario EXP or Elixer Nano.

Well, Im going to be the odd man out on this one and say…Elixir Nanos. :stuck_out_tongue:

They came with my guitar and sound great. Why change?

ive used elixers strings alot before my only flaw with them is they go dead pretty fast and they are over priced, i use DRs with a medium phosphor bronze now, they last a good amount of time on my acoustics. and for my electrics, my band is sponored by ernie ball so i get free stringse hehe little perks of the music industry

and also very impressive collections all of you. music is my fulltime career actually, even tho im in a pop rock band and had some pretty decent success for past 3 years. signed a contract with epic records, then left cuz they kind of botched our 2nd album. but are currently on Wind up records and just did a new album in NYC, but they have put out artist such as creed, evanessence, seether…tons of other huge artist. ill get some pics of our stage gear, and a few of my personal collections up soon.

band is called CARTEL even tho are main demographic is like college kids and teenagers haha some older people do enjoy some of our more rocking tunes. check it tho guys. again very impressive gear.

hey nichud, i’m a professional music biz guy here too. i’m behind the scenes though, a recording/mixing engineer. sent you a PM.

Before I was a door kicker I played guitar in a rock band through high school, college, and tried to make it a full time thing, but sadly no love. :stuck_out_tongue:

I used the Elixer strings for the longest time but I broke them at an alarming rate. I could not figure out what the problem was until I talked to a rep who said that they actually had to make the strings thinner than the stated gauge to get the coating on there. With the coating they were the advertised gauge.

I switched over to the Martin SP Phosphor/Bronze light strings and the broken string issue faded away like an 80’s rock ballad. My preferred string now.

Acoustics I like Elixers
Electrics I like D’Addirio and Fender Bullets for my strat

Can anyone give me any suggestions for a tremolo pedal and a fuzz pedal. I play an American Standard Strat through a Marshall TSL60 half stack.

Light Elixir Polyweb 80/20s for the Cedar Seagull S6. They sound good and the thick coating cuts the finger squeak the guitar normally has.

Light DR Extra Life Phosphor Bronze for the Seagull 12-string. I don’t like restringing that thing much.

D’Addario Light Phosphor Bronze for the Taylor 414. If I’m feeling self-indulgent, I’ll use John Pearse Phosphor Bronze Lights ($$).

The Guild D4 seems to like 80/20 Martin Lights.

If you’re after nasty, the ProCo Rat and Electro-Harmonix Big Muff are both fun.

Stay away from the Russian Big Muff unless you like re-soldering stuff, though.

I have a few muffs, the newest version with wicker does it for me. It’s basically the original muff circuit with some tone mods. It’s the most flexible of all muffs. doesn’t take much real estate too. If you are looking for a fuzz face variant you’ll need to use a buffer with a wah. not necessary with a muff. I have a few Rats also, the current versions pass signal through the led which IMHO is not good. The vintage reissue is ok but not the same as original. I have a rack version that surfaced briefly in the early 90s, R2DU… It sounds amazing, signal does not go through the leds. Through my twin I can get Alan Holdsworth all day long. I recommend the muff with tone wicker, you won’t be sorry. Price is reasonable. Much more in the fuzz zone than a rat.

If you are looking for some effects input from some seasoned players this the board to go to.
