ACOG TA33R-8 and Bobro mount ?

edited to revise question

Well, it seems the Bobro mount I was interested in is not compatible with my TA33R-8 ACOG. Was hoping for a Bobro QD mount to use with my TA33.

How are the American Defense QD mounts with the TA33 ACOG ? Is the American Defense “Modular AD-B2 Base” the right mount for a TA33?

Is the LaRue “Compact Mount QD LT-105” mount model the correct one for a TA33 ?

Will consider the American Defense and Larue mounts. I appreciate any feedback reference the above choices (or any other mounting solutions I may have overlooked when I used the search feature - wouldn’t mind seeing some photos of TA33 mounting solutions either if anyone cares to share).

Thanks.

when I had a TA33 it was in the ADM mount, actually had 2, both in ADM mounts
worked fine

also had a Bobro Aimpoint mount, it was fine as well

same as Larue

they all work as advertized

I have the Larue for my TA33- it works.

I’ll also have ADM stuff (Recon), and it works. I would say better design only because the clamping force on the ADM is must stronger (IMHO).

Can’t get any Bobro stuff in Canada - no help there!

Thanks for the input. I really like the American Defense “Modular AD-B2 Base” mount after looking it up…

have the ADM b2 with my ta33. Its pretty rugged. Good folks at ADM too.

How is the height of the ADM mount compared to the LaRue and stock mount? When I had my TA33 I replaced the stock mount with the LaRue and found that the LaRue was shorter. This is a problem on a carbine with a fixed FSP as it “shadows” in the optic. The stock mount was not that bad, but the LaRue was so short it was a bit of an issue. Still though the stock mount these TA33s come in is garbage.

Sorry can’t say about height. I never mounted it in the stock mount because I too feel they are garbage and never used a larue for it as I bought the ADM.

I have a flip up front and can see a faint shadow IF I look for it.

Thought I would post a follow up:

Turns out that Bobro has a mini-ACOG mount in the works, in case there are others out there who were hoping for one built by them…

There is a slight mention of it in this thread BTW (2010 Shot show optics “blog” link, posted in the following thread):

Direct link to the “blogspot” mentioning the mount, under Trijicon news:

FWIW - Went with the ADM mount. Very satisfied with it.

I can’t find my figures for mount height comparisons, but I have played “mix and match” with several mounts. From lowest to highest in my recollection (when mounting a compact ACOG):

TA51 (full sized ACOG mount)
ADM
LaRue LT-105
TA60 (compact sized ACOG mount)

I actually like the TA60 a lot. It provides a lot of height for low power (1.5x) ACOGs so that interference from a FSB is minimal. With 3x ACOGS, like the TA33, it is less of an issue. The TA60 is also tough. The ADM mount appears to be a better clamping device than the LaRue LT-105, although both will do.

The only thing I did not care for with the TA60 was that the thumb screws have a nasty habit of coming loose at in opportune times.

The LaRue fixed this, but the FSB shadowing issue became much worse.
