I’ve settled on an ACE stock for my AK. I prefer the stubbier Warsaw length stock, but the ACE stocks are offered in 3 different lengths (7.5, 8.5,9.5 inches) and with 1/2 or 1 inch butt pad
Which of these lengths (with 1/2 inch pad) would roughly equate to the length of the standard Warsaw stock? A little research seems to indicate that the 7.5 is awfully short, so I’m eyeing the 8.5, but I dont want to get the wrong one.
I use the 7.5 without a butt pad, it gives me the same LOP as a M-4 stock collapsed all the way minus one…Just by eye balling it my stock is 1.5-2 inches shorter then warsaw length. So to answer your question the best i can either get the 7.5 with a butt pad or 8 in with out if you want Warsaw length…I use the skeleton stock with the internal/no tang folding mech.
Which ace stock are you looking at? I’ve got their hammer stock on my AR and love it. I’m probably going to get a lighter stock for my amd65 from them soon. They make a good product.
I had the one that slips into a fixed stock trunion without modification and even with the shortest LOP it was WAY too long. If I had to get another it would be one of the ones that requires drilling out the trunion and replacing it.
I spoke with a guy from ACE on the phone today - he indicated that a standard Warsaw length stock is about 9.5 inches long. He said that their stock lengths are listed WITHOUT the buttpad, so choice of pad will change the length somewhat. So far as I can tell, the 8.5 inch stock with 1/2 inch buttpad should get me pretty close to the length I am used to. Then when I add the folding mechanism down the road, I’ll gain the final half inch.
You’d be surprised that the hammer isn’t that heavy. It’s sorta like shooting a sopmod stock, but extra rigid. On the ak though, if you want more weight you could always fill the buffer tube with something (on the hammer stock)
